Ask a recovering drug addict/former teacher anything

So I was addicted to a lot of drugs for 9 years. I started with weed at age 15, by age 25 I was snorting and occasionally shooting roxycontin, up to 420mg in a single day sometimes. You name it in terms of street drugs (and most common RCs), other than PCP, and I've tried it, and in most cases I abused it many times.

I was also addicted to psychedelics at various points in time. The last drug I did was mushrooms on September 26th of 2014. I took ten grams and tripped less than I did the first time I took 1/8 of shrooms, because I'd been taking them 3-4 times a week for several months. I once went through over 4 grams of 2c-x and around a 1/4lb of shrooms in under 3 months, using them daily.

I was also addicted to spice for several years. I found this to be easily as addictive as oxycontin, and it took a near death experience that scared me shitless to get me to quit. I have also OD'd on oxy, but I was always unconscious when it happened so it didn't scare me nearly as much.

I was in graduate school until last May, teaching multiple Spanish classes for a tier one university. At that time I was using oxycontin and drinking heavily, doing both before getting up in front of the classroom. My addiction eventually caught up with me, and I was expelled from graduate school, and of course that means I lost my teaching fellowship.

I'll have 6 months clean in a couple of weeks.

Man...that sounds awful, at least you are looking at it like a learning experience

What are you planning on doing?

Did your students know, how was your relationships with the students?

Tell me about the day they found out?

Are you gay?

Well right now I'm a cook in a restaurant. I might decide to teach High School one day, but I'd rather not. Keeping my ears open for some other Spanish-related translation job until then.

I think some of my students suspected. One time I spilled a bunch of vodka on a stack of tests while grading them. Blotched the ink and the smell never came out.

When I was really oxy'd out I'd be way more energetic than normal.

I once showed them a video about how psilocybin causes brain cells to grow in the hippocampus.

They didn't find out, I was dismissed at the end of the semester.

No, it's not like I am a tenured professor. I was kicked out of graduate school for multiple reasons, all of which were related to my drug use.

Creo que no me entendiste. Me despidieron por haberme hecho varias cosas relacionados al uso de las drogas, pero desde entonces he mejorado. No me gustaria ensenar en la secundaria porque resulta en la vida extrenida y porque tengo dificultades controlando el comportamiento de los estudiantes, el cual no es un problema en la universidad. Donde aprendio Ud escribir en espanol? Pa'que sabes, hay varios errores en lo que escribiste, pero de todas maneras es bastante bueno.

I've thought about it a lot. Maybe one day but today is not that day.

My experience tells me that for me weed is highly addictive and makes my life much more difficult to manage. It's a moneypit that fucks up my lungs and makes me antisocial. And messes up my memory.

Estoy intentando pero se necessita recordar que estoy escribiendo por teléfono quebrado :lol: por eso estará problemas en la gramatica. Y no sé todas Las palabras ni sus letras. No soy un maestro de español como tí (or tú).
