Game-introductions & thoughts.
    #21163252 -

Hello. I'm an avid PvP-orientated gamer and after giving combat feedback the past three years to a sinking ship, i've turned my eyes to other games.

Nosgoth
Official; about/gameplay trailer

Square Enix and Psyonix have announced that Nosgoth, the free to play team based competitive multiplayer game:).
-> Enjoyed the legacy of Kain vampire series?
Just went Open beta and i've been around since alpha/beta, if you value a true PvP experience with only bloodthirst in your mind, they've come a great way so far and i'm enjoying atleast a few games each day ... Can buy packs but it's irrelevant since everyone has access to same pool of abilities & weaponry (I puke on freemium models so rly). Matchmaking goes fast enough but an i7 processor + sufficient wifi is advised (have friends with i5 where it doesnt run as good as it should.)

i'd say start to learn the ropes and FOCUS on teamwork. When you're unfamiliar with the abilities / maps / gameplay people who do are seriously in the advantage.
-Servers can be laggy but it's a great game.

----------------

~Star Citizen/Arena Commander 1.0 (not out yet)

Are you lacking epic space ship battles in your life?
I know I am!

More release info:
Star Citizen Persistent Universe Alpha late 2015

---------------

Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is basically 1.6 + Zombie mode for free.
Get steam :-)
+it's from valve, same anticheat
+Crafting system with unique weapons for zombies + various items you can buy in shop (you get a bazillion/TONS of points from a few games, I bought everything in shop and they're mostly consumables or revives, etc)
+Normal De_Dust or various human/zombie/hero campaign or VS. modes

Need I say more?

Gameplay of ones of the modes:

---------------

F.E.A.R Online
FEAR online official

I very much enjoyed the original FEAR and had many spooky nights with my friends
Out of all the games i'm listing this is the one I play the least since the online modus is just a crappy fps IMO.
There is a Co-op mode too though and given the nature of the game and the interesting story this might be convincing enough.
Haven't tried yet though but if anyone feels like giving it a go just PM or post.

Teaser/trailer, doesnt really show anything but it's free to get right now.

------------

Firefall

Looking at my steam i've invested 300hours in this game and i'm loving it. Far from perfect but it's a great mixture of MMO+FPS. Oh and jetpacks!

I've been around since 1.0 and we're nearing 1.3 now.
New zones coming, more raids (+one raid added already), yet another overhaul of the crafting system/hired a new dev for it, the reintroduction of Arena PvP somewhere this year.

Sadly open world PvP called broken peninsula normally has a better Risk Vs. Reward model then normal PvE but it's lacking with the addition of several rewards from doing Campaign missions on hardcore mode. IMO

Also "Uranium", the ore needed to craft most high-tiered items is severly drained around the game at the moment up to the point the same spots get farmed all the time. Normally it's randomized and real fun getting a thumping/mining squad together.
^They're adressing this issue though and inbetween this and a few weeks we'll see the new zone so the games really... becoming something
IMO

Now the game is far from perfect but if you do it like me and go in with no expectations you might be surprised. It is indeed completely F2P. I have everything or even better items then people who'd like to pay.
+see devs ingame and PvP with them sometimes with events
+Free VIP/items from events ever so often.
+3 raids/Boss, 8 campaign missions, four zones (Coral forest - beginner, Sertao - intermediate, Devils Tusk + 1-coming "Amazonian" 40-48 AKA max, Broken Peninsula - Open World PvP experiment)
-PvP side is lacking but is getting some love again and I easily meet 20-40people in PvP but the rewards are lacking at the moment (can get best weapon modules+battleframe cores from there though)
+Very entertaining if you have a good army.
+Combat changes 2.0/Crafting
+Reputation system will make impact on gameworld more outlined.
-Hit a wall easily after maxing frame(s), gearing it if you don't enjoy PvP OR the sandbox experience in general.
I vouch for this game .

----------------

Path of Exile

^Gameplay

Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. We're a small independent team of hardcore gamers based in New Zealand and have created Path of Exile as the game that we'd want to play ourselves. It is designed around a strong barter-based online item economy, deep character customisation, competitive PvP and ladder races. The game is completely free and will never be "pay to win".

It's diablo 2 but better, bigger, and always receiving more content. 1325 skills to choose from.

They finished the first season of PvP Tournaments.

-------------

Loadout.

Official
Skillful yet simple FPS which high customization options for your weapons and you can pick up other people their created weapons aswell. If i'm stoned and want to have a good laugh, I play this one. :happyweed:

Apparently getting a PS4 release aswell. I'd buy it or DL it if that ones free.

Gameplay:

-----------

Natural Selection 2 (Buy2Play)
Official
Aliens Vs. Humans (and theres crazy features), very strategic thinking gives you a +1 in this game, I found it very difficult to get into.

Natural Selection 2 is an immersive, multiplayer shooter that pits aliens against humans in a strategic and action-packed struggle for survival. It seamlessly combines a shooter/FPS gameplay with a strategy (RTS) game.

Hard on the specs too but great online shooter.
+Great support, loads of patches (they're at build 273 so far which included a Steam release)
Dev tracker

-----------

Planetside 2.
(Buy2Play)
Battlefield + Science fiction = Planetside 2

HUMONGOUS game, you need your big ass team or you die. Work together or you die.
i'm contemplating buying a ps4 because they're going to port to it. Mind fucking blown.

Skim for interesting parts. Beginner guide (yes we all need one for this game XD)

------------

Quake Live - F2P
Quake. 'nuff said.

------------

Rise of the Triad
It's basically DOOM + More features + sometimes online play
-lacks community/people playing despite it's huge popularity since release
Or i'm doing something wrong to access all servers
but they have atleast two up and running all time + devs still post weekly with videos/thoughts, etc

You nostalgia you die basically.

-----------

Mission Against Terror

Haven't played decently but looks like a skillful FPS. + They hold tournaments
Gameplay:

Will add a few introductions to upcoming alphas/betas later but my raids are starting and my mate wants to train for this weekend Tekken tourney XD

Cheers

Rise of incarnates, along with 6 other titles by Bandai Namco will see the light this year. 4th of February has the early access and it's going to be F2P fighting game.
Looking at how long the tekken engine has been going and a lot of characters resemble them I feel this will be a solid game. Haven't found a game from the depths of Harada's mind I didn't enjoy properly.

From left to right: Mephistopheles (Paul from Tekken XD), Ares, Lilith, Grim Reaper, Brynhildr, Odin, Ra, Fenrir
Character info.

Gameplay first look, old though 7 months. Alphabuild may vary.

Alpha build gameplay

Dev blog: changes since Beta.

I'm going to enjoy summoning wolves with Fenrir.
Lilith seems nice :awedance:

"For most characters Melee Attack combos represent your single highest damage source and the single greatest moment of risk. Patience is critical when cornering a foe with Ranged Attacks, feints, and skillful movement – once you can seize an opening you want to make sure you have enough Action Gauge available to explode.
As mentioned before, Melee Attacks will vary depending on the direction held so take time to explore your character’s options as you head into battle."

Add me on steam: Kempomeester if anyone wants to play along.

Insurgency

Tactical FPS with a realism level somewhere between Battlefield and ARMA. No bullshit HUD (or HUD at all, beyond how many clips you have left for your weapons (note: CLIP count, not BULLET count. Small difference that adds that much more to gameplay). No crosshairs and your weapons sorta float around in your view while you're not aiming and still shake slightly while you're aiming. No bullshit cone of fire either, your guns hit precisely where they're pointed.

The gameplay is objective based instead of being primarily focused on killing the other team (you get 10x the points for capping an objective as you do killing an enemy, though you CAN also win matches by killing every member of the other team until all of their limited spawns run out) and based in tightly packed maps where a great deal of the buildings are interlocked and can be accessed from a variety of ways. The resulting close quarters combat is VICIOUS. The guns have a satisfying kick as you fire and they're all powerful instead of there being a small handful of 'best' weapons.

However one of the best things about Insurgency is the sound design. No matter where you are on the map you can always hear the distant (or not so distant) crack of gunfire and tell precisely which direction it's coming from. You can hear the boots of other players crunching on gravel nearby, which can be the thing that lets you put 2 rounds in the chest of the motherfucker that comes around the corner or dying without ever noticing he was there, as there are no killcams. You can even hear the voice chats of the other team when they're close by. I honestly don't think I've ever played an FPS that captured suppression as well as Insurgency does. You'll go to peek out a window and you'll catch a flash and duck for cover and hope you make it in time as your character yells "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST" as glass shatters around you and dust and plaster flies off the walls. Hell a decent amount of the time you won't even be able to see whos shooting at you, how many there are, or what direction they're coming from. Because of this friendly fire is actually a fairly common incident since people get jittery as fuck since enemies could be around every corner and just spray everytime they see a flash of movement.

I'm usually not even an FPS person at all either, but Insurgency is simply excellent. Since getting into it at the beginning of November I've gotten a number of friends pretty into it as well. 10/10 would recommend if you enjoy tactical/realistic FPS with pretty heavily enforced teamwork being the name of the game rather than sprinting around solo killing everyone

Great post / Entry. I'm dying to try it really.

Dirty Bomb.
If you want to join, i'll try to acquire more beta keys/invites. Should go full release soon , Open rounds next thursday.
Now i'm an avid FPS player, played RTCW/Wolfenstein: Enemy territory/Rise of the Triad competitively and after a decade haven't found a shooter comparable... Untill now ...

Fast TTK, Obj-driven gameplay, class-based teamwork, Strafing/Trickjumping due to Quake-Engine, actual movement even whilst under fire/hipfire promoted, need to gib kills. Overall very solid (been testing since alpha) and finally one that stands out!

:3 Well the SMGs are far and away the best guns in Insurgency (making my last post about 'no best gun' a little redundant). They're not significantly OP compared to everything else cuz they do about the same damage and don't have absurd clip size, but they're also MUCH faster/maneuverable than any rifle and have a much more intuitive hipfire compared to just about every other gun in the game. If you can avoid being picked off at long range and get in close (or worse yet, BEHIND) the enemy, prepare to start fucking wrecking people.

Hmm...Dirty Bomb looks like something I might enjoy though the arcadey look of it is kind of turning me off. Especially the slomo and defib parts.

Project Genom is developed by a small indie studio.
The project is at the alpha testing stage.
The game is expected to be available for Steam Early Access shortly.
Project Genom is a new MMORPG shooter in a sci-fi setting on Unreal Engine 4.
Closed alpha-test is set to kick off on April 10.

First gameplay
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jqvl8X1MV98

Project Genom features:
- quality graphics on Unreal Engine 4
- detailed role-playing system that allows players to level up with no limits to skill levels
- pets
- endless possibility to craft and enhance items
- advanced economic system allowing players not only to sell items to shops, but also to other players via auction
- land and air transport
- advanced PvP that in addition to free zones and battle arenas includes a system of traps, ambushes and looting
- system of clans and raids
- no pay-to-win!

"pvp still in progress. its big work, biggest than pve"
"project genom more RPG than firefall"
"depending on the quests and crafting the player can become one of 6 characters:
Ghost
Assaulter
Saboteur
Phantom
Sniper
Infantryman"

"The process of creating a character and the emotional element are very important, and we’ll certainly pay attention to these aspects at later stages of development.
The majority of questions concerning the replayability will be possible to answer to only once the game is complete. We are constantly working on the balance of weapons, armor, special equipment, development builds, abilities, and character stats, and we will do our best to make the game as captivating as it possibly can be. But it’s important to remember that at the moment the game is at the alpha testing stage and some things will still need some fine tuning."

"The maximum number of members in a party is expected to be 5. The power of mobs in dungeons and the reward for them depend on the number of players and the level difference among party members. The power of mobs in the outside world will remain fixed but the more a party member destroys enemies, the less experience each party member gets. That’s why choosing a party should be taken seriously."

I have a feeling this engine will shake up the F2P world and render a lot of models completely obsolete. The games i've played thusfar were very enjoyable.

Fortnite OT3 next week
I may have friend invites

(dw they just showcasing mac build)

I'm moreso a PvP player but this game has a special place in my heart
The devs are so passionate
And the build is so solid I actually had problems with finding bugs

Build huge ass forts on the fly, craft weapons, find weapons
The world basically creates itself right infront of your eyes
Fend off the monsters and open the gates!

They focus on fun and that's what we seek in games, no?

I don't like either game but fortnite is BAWS

Won't be in this build though.
