Might I ask what whiskey you like skorpivo, or anyone else? I know there is some really expensive shit out there but for the price, nothing beats Makers Mark in my opinion...90 proof and smoother than any 80 proof at the same price. And you can get 1.75l at costco for $30, I think that's the best deal costco has.

whisky-coke is great, i think he deserves 5 mushrooms, not his human rights taken away.

as for vodka, id go grey goose. id also like to mention that i think its waaay better than belvedere, i think belv is overrated personally.

Well sure it would be a sin to mix Coke with a single malt Scotch like that but what about lesser whiskeys. I like Jack & Coke are you against that too?

Not as much. But I never drink it... It all leads back to a 14 year old version of me, drunk on Rum & Coke to the point of alcohol poisoning. Unable to puke to rid myself of the toxin, some social service field agents picked me up and tried to drive me to some clinic. On the way there, I explained I needed to puke, so they opened the door... And I went like lightning straight for the subway station. :grin:

Ever since, coke and colored booze makes me gag.

I can understand that. The first time I got drunk I was around 14 and I drank a few screwdrivers that I mixed up myself. I forget what kind of vodka it was, probably middle of the road. Anyways, I ended up puking my brains out and since then I could never enjoy vodka with orange juice. I'm like you though, I'm more of a whiskey drinker. But I do drink vodka in the occasional bloody Mary or vodka tonic.

Oh fully. As do I. But I have no real preferences in brands etc... Usually just go for Absolut, being Swedish and all. :wink:

In my book the less taste it has and the smoother it goes down, the better. Much different from whiskey where taste is key. I don't want to taste my vodka. Unless it's Absolut Mandarin but that's different.

Isn't it weird how childhood experiences with alcohol have such profound resonances even in adulthood? Screwdrivers = gag.

It is, yes. I think it's in correlation to the juvenile body not being very fit to handle alcohol, to the extent of the adult body. I mean, I've had much worse drinking sessions these days, but it hasn't effed me up like that with gagging and so on.

And I agree on the vodka. If it's for drinks, I don't mind some vodka taste... But for shots I want it to go down without much of a fuzz.

Oh yeah I knew I was forgetting an important drink that I like that has vodka-- I love the occasional white russian. They're tasty.

I was watching this show on the discovery channel one time on this vodka called "Glacier Vodka".  It was actually made using the water from glaciers (purest water in the world).  It's supposed to be some of the best vodka out there.  I've been meaning to look up prices and try some, but forgot about it until i read this post :laugh:

Never was much for really sweet stuff, or milk drinks. I do dig Bloody Mary.
Actually, there's an exception to the sweet ones. Something I mixed together by trial and error, was real proud of the outcome, and later found the exact same recipe in a drink book. :frown:
Vanilla vodka
Squeezed lime (Lime essence works too)
Fruit Soda (Or possibly Sprite)
...And optionally - A splash of Cranberry juice.

Not to hijack but about whiskey - Bookers.  Neat. 141 proof or something. Not something to drink mixed with coke, but to be drunk with snorted coke.  I drank Bookers with juice one year for Mardi Gras and all I remember is walking sideways and most of what I don't remember is falling flat on my face on Royal street outside the C :shocked:hartroom.

I ended up with Turi-from Estonia.
Came recommended by a guy who has been drinkin' longer than the 35 years I been around. I am Irish, Italian and Greek, I was bred to drink, but have not been drunk but 4 times my whole life. (weed is another story... Haven't run out since July 1986-REALLY!)
