I don't find anything wrong with being motivated by love or sex, not sure why you take offense to it. I guess we "go there" because we can't just go around calling everyone the n-word here.

Because I am heterosexual.  Heterosexuals are allowed to be offended by implications of homosexuality.  I have nothing against homosexuals, I am simply not one.
You can't just go around implying that heterosexuals are homosexuals without respecting that they might be just as offended as black people might be my the n-word.  So you didn't need to "go there", and if you cannot see that you probably shouldn't be moderating others.  There was a high road that you did not take.
