Yeah, we should have just gone the single payer system.  That seemed to be Obama's plan from the gate but apparently he switched his views to be more conforming to what the right wanted.

so once more people try and blame the conservatives for this pile of shit?

obamacare wasnt voted for by a single republican, democrats had control of
both chambers of congress, republicans had no input on obamacare, it was
harry reid, nancy pelosi,  and the insurance companies that collaborated
and wrote the bill. this wasnt democrats kowtowing to republicans, this
was all democrats trying to become wealthier

Quote:
  Obamacare makes a broken system even more broken.  Health care costs are skyrocketing and health insurance isn't exactly "easily obtainable."  While for the rich, little changes, for the uninsured, they get even more fucked by all of this.  There is little advantage to actually working these days as the benefits are only subtly more beneficial than just chillin all day on government aid.

the system wasnt broken, obama claimed this would be single payer, what
ever the fuck that really means, then he claimed it would insure 45
million americans that had no insurance, now 60 million are without
insurance, many can no longer afford insurance because premiums keep going
up, companies cant meet obama's demands and the cost of medical care has
increased... obama and his cronies sure fucked shit up

so suck it up, this is all on the obama/democrat voters

I don't really care who it's on to be honest.  Where did you get that number from?

Quote:
the uninsured rate has been falling since the fourth quarter of 2013, after hitting an all-time high of 18.0% in the third quarter -- a sign that the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as "Obamacare," appears to be accomplishing its goal of increasing the percentage of Americans with health insurance coverage.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/168248/uninsured-rate-lowest-2008.aspx

What fantasy land did you live in where insurers gobbled up people with serious pre-existing conditions without charging exorbitant rates?  The system is broken not because there is some dramatic rise in uninsured.  The system is broken because the insurance people can actually afford actually doesn't promote preventative care because of ridiculous premiums that renders the insured basically uninsured for something that isn't catastrophic.  Not to mention, there is a huge gap in coverage where lots of people simply can still not afford insurance at all in states such as yours that didn't expand medicaid.  If we're parceling fault here, whose fault was that anyways?

So what is your solution, pris?  Go back to the old system where health care was provided on the backs of the poor?  While I agree that obamacare is certainly no panacea, I do not believe that people with pre-existing conditions should be left out in the cold.  Okay so people's rates rose.  I consider that a small price to pay.  If anything, we should be attempting to control the ridiculous cost of health care.  How is it that many other developed nations charge far less than us?  Certainly you're not going to blame Obama for that.

There's always going to be some cost to healthcare. People don't want to spend that length of time in school without getting some kind of monetary reward for their services, but right now it seems the entire bureaucracy built within the institution is adding all kinds of other hidden costs.

Do you have a source for that or did you just make that up?  I think you just made that up.  The law explicitly states that an insurer may not charge more because one person has a pre-existing condition.

Okay and if you need to go see a specialist to actually prevent something from getting worse, I sure do bet your insurance doesn't pay 100% for that now does it?  Even if you have some fancy plan that does, I'm sure you can agree that most plans do not offer 100% payment for that.  Diagnoses does not equal prevention.

Sounds like you are just getting screwed.

The average increase for Obamacare plans will be 8.2 percent next year in 29 states and the District of Columbia where data about health insurance premiums for 2015 are available, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers, which has conducted the most thorough review to date. That's significant, but it's a little lower than the 10 percent annual rate hikes typical before the Affordable Care Act, according to a recent analysis published by the Commonwealth Fund.

That's great and all but perhaps that's because your state specifically opted not to expand medicaid and as a result lost federal funding.  Being that you seem to think federal funding is so great, a strange position you find yourself in.  Furthermore, your articles don't actually indicate how that will affect Medicare coverage besides in ambiguity and hardly mention mediCAID at all.  It's as if Obama took a couple billion out of the military budget and you are like oehs noes the iraqis are gun invade!!!!!

Quote:
Texas will lose $9.2 billion in 2022; Florida says goodbye to $5 billion; Georgia is out $4.9 billion. A new report details just how much states are losing because they don’t want to expand Medicaid under Obamacare, and it’s not chump change.

Simple enough.  The insured had insurance; insurance paid but a lesser amount due to contracts between insurers and health care providers.  Those who were uninsured were forced to pay exorbitant, way more than reasonable prices because so many people opted not to pay for their healthcare because it was already too expensive and because health care facilities could charge them face due to the lack of contractual obligation found in the insurance context.  This cycled around for a while increasingly raising the prices so mostly only those who had insurance could afford to pay.  Those still able to pay out of pocket were forced to pay out the ass for health care.  To this day, health care costs are the highest reason for bankruptcy.

Not quite. You can also not pay by setting the deductions for Federal taxes to an amount where at the end of the year you owe money. Then, when writing a check for the balance owed simply deduct the Obamacare amount. Congress did not write any other mechanisms into the law for the IRS to collect the tax in any other way.

if someone opts to not pay for their medical bills then how exactly are
they being made to pay? all the doctors and hospitals can do is send it
to collections and put it on your credit.

every doctor I've dealt with knocks 20% off a bill if you pay cash, once

Wishful thinking my friend, Obama care was written by the health care lobbyists, it really doesn't matter about the rhetoric Obama spewed about a single payer system, it was never going to happen.

double of $95 is $235???

That's some fucked up math there...

AND ALSO, so everyone knows...

YOU DO NOT NEED HEALTH INSURANCE, if you meet certain requirements.

https://www.healthcare.gov/fees-exemptions/exemptions-from-the-fee/

If your uninsured for less than 3 months, your healthcare would cost more than 8% your household income, or can claim hardship expemtion.

basically, if you not married, making 20k a year lets say, if health insurance is going to cost more than $1600 a year, its too much.
or for every $100 make, $8.01 has to be spent on healthcare for you to be expempt.

https://www.healthcare.gov/fees-exemptions/hardship-exemptions/

Have you received a shut off notice for some basic services like power or heat?
were you evicted in the past 6 months, or going up for eviction? or foreclosure for homeowners?
were recently a victim of domestic violence?
Death of a family member?
medical expenses within the last 24 months, that ended up costing a substantial amount of money? (prisoner#1, ahem)
filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months?
