question about user galleries and upload permissions

If I wanted to post a link to my own personal user gallery (to show someone else my collection of pics, or what have you) would they be able to just click on the little upload thingy and upload pics an shit...or is there something set up that checks to see if the person attempting to upload a pic is in fact the same person that owns the account? Cause I was thinking of doing something like that, but I don't want anyone else that might happen to stumble across the thread to take advantage of the situation (not that anyone would probably even think to do something like that, but if they did...would it work?)
