"Negro" * 1

A very common word used by ZIG who claims he isn't racist.  How many people here go around calling dark skinned people of African descent "negro?"

When the rabid right uses terms like these, also called "moochers," "takers," "bums," "leaches," "welfare queens," etc.  is it not considered racist? 

Or do the same people like ZIG walk around NY calling people "negro?"


With the recent rise of dog whistle racism in the right wing hate machine, why do we tolerate this use of language?

I guess at one level 'Negro' is a bad word.  It's a lot more bigoted to call someone a 'Negro' than it is to generalize a whole group as 'racist, mysogynist, angry old white men, haters, etc. Right?

What the fuck are you whining about? How is the word Negro offensive? Are there any real problems for you to worry about? It's wrong to use the word negro but ok to use the word white? Sounds like brain damage to me. All people offended by the word negro are brain damaged.

Negro is the Spanish word for black and I have no idea who'd be offended by "negro" but not "black" :shrug:

As using it, I tend to use it descriptively to refer to Americanized black people  as they tend have a distinct morphology from modern Africans.
