With practice of conscious awareness and living in the present, you begin to find that you are not the ego, you are the witness.
You are not the physical, you are the observer of the physical.
At this stage, when people or events bring you stress or anger, you can smile, even laugh at the silliness of it all.
At this stage, you can be nothing but joy and bliss.
And everyone is capable. It's just a choice, are you ready to forget what you are, and remember who you are?

To be completely honest you are correct. I personally wouldn't be able to handle that.
However I don't consider myself enlightened, I have much to learn.
I do view everyone & everything as myself though, in this sense trauma is much less traumatic(self pretending to hurt self to create an experience of self having a traumatic experience )
They are not truly your "wife and kids" they are a playing of consciousness, your value on them is literally imaginary, and nothing ever truly dies it only shifts. "Only the ego dies" for example.
It is entirely possible to be free from all concepts, notions, and thoughts; or at least free from the hold they have on you.
This does not mean to value life, it means that all life is sacred and beautiful, and even moments of 'trauma' can be observed and perceived as beautiful experiences.

Freedom from suffering is one realization away.
