I'm looking for suggestions as to a good first dose of DXM. Erowid suggests that 200mg is on the high end of a light dose and the low end of a "common" dose. Would this be a good dose to start with?
I am fairly experienced with shrooms and LSD but wanted to give this a try. Any suggestons or insights would be good.

It depends on your body weight.
That sounds like a good light to medium dose for a 150-170lb individual. I weigh 170lbs and I took 300mg of DXM (crystal) my first time, it was a tad too much. 200mg is a little weak, 250 seems perfect for me. It's always best to start off with a low dose.
This thread is subject because asking for dosage is not allowed.
I know you just want suggestions but this is a fine line.
Everyone keep mind of the rules and we can a nice discussion.
Usually Erowid is a good guideline to go by.

I would start as LOW as you can...
Different people can react VERY differently to DXM. You don't want to take too much and find out after you've taken it, trust me

nice pic theprofessional, always start low get the feel and then its pretty easy to judge you tolerance, you dont want to take loads just to discover its a high you dont like, again erowid is great for this kind of thing. Also if your buying syrups only buy ones with dxm as the only active ingredient, ive compiled this guide to dxm which may help you choose.

Ugh, last night was the third and last time I'll ever do dex. I had pure powder in some pills, and I took just under a gram. It was extremely crazy. The only (semi) good experience I've ever had, but it's still evil....

Similar to you, the last time I took it I had 750mg of pure powder in pills and it was too fucked, I came to sitting on the toilet and thought I had been kidnapped.

I drank an 8 ounce bottle of Robotussin DM the first time I tried DXM. It is a trashy feeling high in my opinion. You'd be doing yourself a favor to just pass it up.

Regular or frequent DXM use can lead to craving the experience and to emotional dependence. ? Although not common, some people go on to use DXM daily and can find it difficult to quit.
It is not yet established whether regular use of DXM causes physical dependence (physical withdrawal symptoms upon stopping regular use). Some users report a 1-2 week "hangover" period after stopping use which could suggest mild physical withdrawal. There is no evidence of life-threatening health risks from withdrawal, but there is little data available on the subject.
Regular users experience tolerance and require increased dosages to achieve the same level of effects. (EROWID)

A friend of mine was hooked on DXM for quite a while. He eventually lost it and ended up spending some time in a padded room. The last I heard he was walking the streets of Isreal preaching about the coming of the messiah. I am not saying that DXM was responsible for his mental problems, but I also don't know that it wasn't.

Don't pussy foot about it. I've taken 350mg twice. It is very mild and kind of fun at this point. But I will definitely be taking 700mg next time. I don't think I am in deep enough at 350.

i had 360mg DXM (im about 160lbs) and just shat a whole lot. very minimal mental fx. this may be due to some enzyme co-inhibition with diphenhydantoin which i gotta take 600mg every day.
ill try 720mg next, but i dont expect a whole lot out of it.

The first time I did DXM was one of those rare times when I researched everything about the drug but the dosage. Well I downed 1 1/2 8oz bottles of Tussin ($1 a piece at the local dollar store with nothing but DXM as the active ingredient) at around 8pm. I was feeling really nice for an hour or so but then I decided that the trip wasn't getting heavier so I went to sleep. I had to go to work the next morning so I definetly didn't want to stay up all night.
I woke up at 6:00am tripping harder than I have ever tripped before in my life. I could barely see 5 feet in front of me and I couldn't walk a straight line if my life depended on it. I had to get a friend to drive me to work where I proceeded to trip the entire day away. That was back when I worked stock at a craft store so it was cool to have some of the hot girls helping me through the trip. At one point however my boss caught me staring at the soda machine in the break room. I had to make up a bullshit story about how I was on muscle relaxers again (I had injured my back a few months prior and had a script for many different muscle relaxers) and that they caused me to zone out. She bought it fortunatly.
Word of warning : Never try to blow up balloons with a helium tank when you are tripping on DXM. It's not pretty.
