Is there a way to disable chat requests? * 3
    #19684106 -

I have received unsolicited chat requests from fellow shroomery users recently.  I have absolutely no interest in chatting with other users here, particularly dumbass noobs(puppet?) like mindbodysoul http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showprofile.php?User=323149

A way to disable chat requests would be nice(if there isn't one already that I haven't seen).  I can disable pms, disabling chat requests makes sense.

I think the burning question here is:

Why do they want to chat with you?
Your chats should be exclusive to the Ubliat.

Do you have to have someone in your address book in order to chat request them?  Seems like a universal "turn chat requests off" option, or a confirmation process for people adding you to their address book might be the best solution.  I'd say the former would be the easiest for the users.

It was like that originally, but geo wanted the option of being able to contact anyone, so I added them as well.

But yeah - I should add an option to disable it for the anti-social types. :hehehe:

It seems broken without that option, honestly.  Would it otherwise require ignoring someone to block the requests, as it currently functions?

Everyone should be on ignore by default, until you explicitly make the move to unblock them.

And I mean for all functions, not just this chat thing.

Nah.  I don't care why they want to chat with me.

That might be alright.  Ubliaters know where they can pm me, and we might use offsite chat.

I think this is a cool feature. However, if a user has their online status set to invisible they should not appear in the Chat Contacts. Some people don't like their forum activity being monitored by other users and Chat Contacts undermines that to a certain degree.

I and everyone else who has their account set to invisible are appearing in the chat contacts when they're logged in. That isn't right and should be fixed. Also there should be a way to disable this feature for those of us who don't want to chat with anybody.

This is actually quite disturbing. I have my settings set to invisible. My name shows in the Chat Contacts. I don't want it there.

This is second rate bullshit and the admin responsible should be ashamed of themselves for not taking care of this as soon as it was reported about a month ago.

What a butthurt lil' fella you are. Or is Andy incapable of answering for himself?

Are his fingers broken? Can he not type? Or did he have a stroke?

Or, as I suspect, are you too weak to miss a chance to make a fool of yourself?

it's "wow" because your buuthurt does you no favors, nor do I think anyone is at my beck and call. Also, note I was echoing the post above mine. You demonstrated your butthurt commenting on my post, but not the other.

Yes timtim, get over your butthurt. You look more foolish each time, plus it demonstrates why you lack the maturity to be a mod.

Edit: fixed/changed "med" to "mod".

Us moderators are allowed to have opinions. If it was an official reply it would be different.
It is my opinion that luvdemshrooms is acting like he is entitled to having things done for him.

I have added a disclaimer to my earlier post to prevent confusion.

Let the admins fight their own battles.. I assure you... they can handle it.

You have no right to accuse someone else of being butthurt.  All you do is troll this particular forum and take every opportunity to engage in nit picking, bickering, and insulting anyone who disagrees with you.  You aren't a supporter and you don't contribute anything to the sight in any way unless we're counting sarcasm and disrespect to the staff.

That being said,

Andy has acknowledged that it needs to be fixed.  Are you going to set the time limit on how long it will take?

I seriously doubt that your privacy has been invaded due to this, or that anyone gives a shit or even notices that you can get around the "who's online" thing because of it.  Sounds like some paranoid delusions to me.  I doubt anyone would want to work to fix something when the people complaining about it are taking your approach of being presumptuous and rude.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but no one cares enough to come even relatively close to being obsessed.

Here's how it works, you propose an idea, the staff sees the suggestion, decide if it's worth discussing, and finally decide if it would be worth the time and hassle it would take to implement said idea. Do you see bickering and snide remarks* in that process?

*Andy is the exception, messing with him tends to be good fun to pass a bit of time.
