last years ganoderma lucidium find revisited today 9-13-2013
    #18837408 -

I went out looking for a spot that I found ganoderma lucidium last year, bingo there coming up on the same trees as last year. This first pic is one jeff, versicolor and mycofever and a few others helped me out with, they said the ones I posted b4 weren't fresh so return to the same spot this year and I should find them, as I did today. Here is the tree from last yearand this yearand right across from that tree I found this one which I think is last years how long do they usually take to mature?

As long as they've got that white edge they're still growing, so keep checking back weekly on those ones.  They look like they're not that happy with the conditions or something though, some have stopped growing prematurely, and some look like they're getting eaten by something.  I dunno   I'd harvest the ones that have stopped growing and let the others finish maybe they will get big.

I thought the same thing (and it's true not all are happy mushrooms bugs are already in some). Your right forrester the sickly ones should be harvested but the ones that I picked were in bad shape,so I'm gonna keep an eye on them they are not terribly far from home thanks for the reply, I'll keep everyone posted.

Just curious, what told you that?

Ganoderma ludidum grows in North America, as well as G. tsugae.

My thoughts exactly Forrester, but I guess at least you are showing enthusiasm Rarecultures,  just need to do a little more studying. Fuck I didn't even know there was a mushroom called g. lucidium until I got GG&MM a book by Paul Stamets. Now the ganoderma species is my favorite, well maybe I got a few actives I like better, but there are only three that grow in my area, and I've never found one. But I'm still on the hunt! Here is some called g. applanatum, the artist conk, if it was fresh the pores would be white.

Nice, I just made a tincture of G. applanatum.  That stuff will stink up your car worse than any G. tsugae I've ever found (G. lucidum doesn't really grow here).  It's the same exact smell, very medicinal, but much stronger in G. applanatum.  Whew!  If the strength of the medicine has anything to do with the strength of the smell I've got some gold here!

LOL, yeah ur right again that's some potent shit. You prob. read the post about how I make it . I blend turkey tails, g.applanatum, reishi and coffee and go throught a 6 hour boiling session 2 hours at a time. Everyone pretty much complains of the taste of the ganoderms but my least fav. is turkey tails. Man those artist conks are a real bitch to make into small chunks, burnt up many a blender on those beasts, check this one out if u haven't seen it already I've got a post on it in g&med. mushrooms.
