How do you say "admin?"
    #18721507 -

Newbie (my roomie) and I are having a debate. What is the proper way to say admin? "AD-min" or "ad-MIN?"

If you're not familiar with pronunciation stuff, if something is capitalized, that means the emphasis is put on that syllable.

So you're debating whether the emphasis is on the first syllable, or on the first syllable? :wtf:

I don't put emphasis on either part of the word. It's all just one smooth word to me.

I stick with the emphasis being on the first syllable.

What part of that do you find nonsensical? I never say ADmin or adMIN. It sounds like one sound to me. One short word. Admin.

On second thought I just said "admin" out loud. Apparently I say ADmin. I guess I was wrong.

I'll remember to pay extra attention to the things you say to see if I should add you to my ignore list in the future though, you're getting a little edgy.

Scratch that, I'm being a prick tonight and I'm sorry.

I say AD-min, but ad-MIN is more in line with ad-MIN-istrator, so he's not crazy.

It all depends on how it is used in a sentence.

The correct pronunciation (at least in my mind) is "AD-min." Not necessarily an emphasis on the first syllable, just pronounced "add" not "ed" phonetically. So the correct phonetic spelling would be "add - min"...I'm too :awehigh: for this. Making me think this hard at 4am damnit.

I pronounce it ADD-MIN, trying to think of another way to pronounce it anc can't.

How is the second option you gave pronounced? I'm extremely stoned and I'm finding the word admin pretty funny
