Laser beamed retina images.
    #1789593 - 08/07/03 07:57 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

A year or so ago I had read about a technology that may eventually replace the CRT and/or monitor. Apparently you would have some type of glasses or headset that would project or scan the images from your computer to your retina with a laser. It would be like a heads up display. If this were to be come a usable consumer product the possibilities would be endless. You could partially or completely alter your vision and perception. Does anyone have anymore information regarding the status of this?

I heard about this a few years back. I heard that they had a working prototype for a device, but that it was still years away from a consumer product. I saw a pic of the thing and it was WAY huge, someone had to hold the front of it up or it'd pull the guys head down forward  :smirk:

Sounds like an absolutely amazing invention! I read that they could hook it up to a live camera and you could almost not even tell the difference from the real thing.

I can't wait to play counterstrike in full 3D

Wow, I didn't hear about the live camera part. That reminds me way too much of that movie with Natalie Wood..

Hmm... the ones I saw were a small device that straped to your head. Now that I remember they said that it could be implemented into glasses eventually.

Yeah this was like 5 or 6 years ago, I think it was the first model ever made to work. It had wires coming out all over, and I think it was just a motorcycle helmet with the laser assembly attatched to the front somehow. The back was that sparkly-red paint, so definately a helmet  :smirk:
