password changes every time i go in prefs

My password changes from what it is to something really long every time I go in preferences. I always have to clear out whatever is there and type my password in again. why is that?

You don?t have to. The password seems to be long, but it is still your password, it?s just encrypted.
You don?t have to change it every time.

Oh phew. I'll stop re entering it.

Matts- if someone sat down at my pc while i was logged on, they could just change the password, never mind trying to crack it.

Try it and see. If it asks for your old password first, then no.

If it doesn't, then yes.
