First Harvest

My buddies cat is getting ready to harvest his first grow. Can somebody give me some tips on storing (not honey) atleast for a few days until he can get some drying materials.

oh, and how do you even use that dessient stuff or whatever.

You can place it in front of a fan for a few days. You can also store them in the refrigerator in a paper bag.

Storing them in a sealed container is not a good idea as the stored moisture has nowhere to go and makes soggy mushrooms.

People always talk about storing shrooms in the fridge... I actually dry mine in there with screen and a small pan of dessicant under them. I find that cold drying them helps retain the color better and the caps dont get all curled up and nasty looking.. It takes a little longer... about 3 days... but I like the results....It also makes use of the mini fridge i baught when i wnt away to college

get a small fan, place your mushys on a plate, and place them infront of the fan for ATLEAST 24 hours.... 48 is good too....

after 24-48 hours place the mushrooms in your dessicant chamber
(take a small rubbermaid/ziplock container the kind for storing food, and fill it halfway with dry-rite/damp-rid, found in the PAINT section of home depo.. just buy the refill carton if u can, it looks like a small milk carton....
then place a screen over the damprid, or take some saran wrap and fold it up and place it on top of the damprid... then place the mushrooms on top of that... then seal the container and forget about them for a week... basically u just dont want the mushrooms to actually TOUCH the damprid.....
after a week they will be cracker dry, u can then transfer them to a ziplock bag, suck the air out, and place the bag inside a quart jar with some dessicant in the bottem and seal that up....
ive stored mushrooms for months and months like that with no noticable loss of potency...
