College football
    #16640052 -

Not only is football season around the corner, but we will have 2 kinds of football!  I enjoy college football, I root for Oklahoma teams and Georgia teams....LSU and Bama are 1 & 2 right now which could go for throughout most of the season but anything can happen!

Being a Michigan fan, I can not wait for the season opener

Michigan vs. Alabama, going to be an awesome game as Michigan looks to prove themselves against one of the best programs in the game.

Denard Robinson is fuckin nasssty

Ah, that'd be sooo awesome. I have been wanting to check out the Cowboys new stadium. I hear it is one of the nicest sporting venues ever. How much did you drop on tickets?

$375 a ticket. Pretty ridiculous, but we wanted lower level seats. Otherwise I'd just rather watch it at home on HD. Fucking standing room tix are going for like $60-80 or something stupid like that.

The amount of money charged on these things are out of control. Oh well, though. Looking forward to it. I hope Michigan doesn't get embarrassed. I know Bama lost a significant portion of their roster to the pros (and graduating players), but with Saban they reload -- not rebuild. Turnovers will be soooooo key. Well I guess you could say they always are, but even more so now. Bama feasts off mistakes.

Denard better be sharp with his decision making.

I think the boys will be ready. Denard has a lot of experience under his belt now. Trouiffant (sp?) is suspended right? You know how the depth at RB is looking? I know we are thin at WR but we'll see if any of the freshman step it up

You got an extra ticket? :smirk:

Extra ticket? I wish, bro! It was hard enough for me just pulling the trigger on one ticket at that price

And yeah, Fitz Touissant is suspended for the time being. There's an outside chance he could still suit up though and come off the bench, but that's probably wishful thinking. Although it hasn't been ruled out at this point. And damn him for forcing Hoke to do that...we need that fucker. We have decent depth at RB but none of course who bring the complete package like Fitz does. It would be an RB by committee situation.

Where is Michael Hart when you need him. One of the best college RB's of all time. I thought he would have been decent in the NFL given his hard running style but he was just tooo small to be effective. Hell of a player though

Oh man, no doubt. Mike Hart was freaking incredible. It seemed like every other week he was putting up 200 yards on the ground. His measurables weren't good...like his 40 time, size, etc. but his vision was ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. The way he let his blocks set up and how he'd use them was pure artistry.

I don't think he was given enough of a shot in the NFL. In practice I'm sure he never stood out -- everybody else after all was faster, bigger, and more athletic than him. But he was such a gamer, though. On game day all he did was flat out produce.

What he did at Michigan:

1,082 career touches for 5,600 yards. That's an average of nearly 6 yards every time he touched the ball. That's insane. 43 career touchdowns in 43 career games. Again, ridiculous. Dude was getting into the end zone every single week for virtually 4 full college seasons.

freshman season 1,600 yards, 10 touchdowns

sophomore season 800 yards, 5 tds (cut short due to injury)

junior season 1,700 yards, 14 touchdowns

senior season 1,400 yards, 14 touchdowns

- All Big Ten Conference first team selection three of four years

- Only the fourth EVER player in the Big Ten to eclipse 5,000 career rush yards

- 2 time Doak Walker award finalist

- 2006 Heisman finalist

- University of Michigan school record holder for most carries and most rushing yards

- TWENTY EIGHT (28!!!) career 100 yard games

- Only 3 fumbles in 1,082 touches

college football is awesome, i might like it even more than the nfl, who knows...

hoping for an undefeated season from my hometown team, NIU...they play in a crappy enough conference where they could pull it off.

Does anyone think LSU will be affected now that Mathieu is off the team?  I agree with what Mike Wilbon said earlier on PTI, that there's always someone right behind him who can come in and do damage.  At a place like LSU you know it can't be too bad or they probly wouldn't have kicked him off!  :justdontknow:  He has reportedly had problems with smoking pot in the past, probly got caught again they aren't saying exactly why hes gone

They'll still be good enough to contend for a NC, but yeah, it will affect them. You don't lose a Heisman candidate overnight and expect not to be affected.

His backup is no slouch though...(albeit a Freshman).

I went to Washington and am pretty excited for Sept. 8th. Sadly I couldn't make it to deathvalley this year; but will be making it to Soldier Field for the Illinois game next year.
This year should be fun for UW as they're playing in Seahawks Stadium
We've got a brutal 5 game stretch tho...@LSU  (ok 1 breather Portland state at home), Stanford, @ORE, USC. Really hope we can steal a game or two but I could see 1-4

just came on to make my yearly college football thread when i saw this. michigan is going to be nasty this year, i wouldn't be surprised if they won the big10. i would think robinson could take the Heisman this year, but i also think ball could too.

excited to say the least, less than a week away now.
