BF3 performance with these computers? 5770

I can't really find benchmarks for what I'm looking for so I was hoping some one could tell me what to expect with a 5770 and how my 9800gt will run in my bros puter.

My current card is 1gb and overclocked so it does really good with my specs (720p low 40+ fps), but I'm worried my brothers computer will bottleneck it?  How cpu dependent is the game actually?  I don't know cuz I've only ever played on one rig.  Its not really a big deal for him if it dips under 30fps but lag spikes suck.

I'm defiantly buying this card tho since my bros is dead and I would like to switch to 1080p with 45+ fps and maybe run on medium or something?

Plus mine coins will I'm not playing :wink:

Bro puter:

9800gt 1gb
Athlon X2 2.1Ghz
2GB DDR2

We need to get him some cooling, maybe to overclock cpu but importantly case fans.  I don't want to give up any of my 5 fans :P

have you tried "'video card ' passmark," on google?

i looked up a 9600 gt yesterday its a little better then a ps3

9800 is the same as the one i said before, a lil better then ps3

they might have stopped at 28-32 players for the ps3 and xbox cause they wanted it at 60fps or maybe they just dont do that much computing.


I think most games lag when the A.I. is going crazy and there are crazy effects i dunno if multiplayer really depends that much on your cpu, but I know that battlefield 3 actually tracks the bullets in the air and yada yada yada as opposed to some other games.

haha, 9600gt as good as ps3. sounds about right, only the pc with it would get like 15fps.  And I don't think consoles get 60fps all the time except maybe on cod.  I hear bf3 is already pushing consoles to the limits and they wont be able to add anything like battle recorder in the future.  I see my brother playing crysis 2 on his xbox which always suprizes me, cept I can tell fps drop below 30 allot.

Good news for pc gamers tho, the next gen consoles are actually going be real pc's using DX10 or somthing :lol:.  Something like a hd6570 will be in it.  If thats true it seems like console ports will be allot more optimized for pc.

Anyways I just wanted to see if someone had experience with the card or a benchmark, I can wait a week till I have it tho :P. 

Think it will do low/medium anyways since I just found a single player benchmark.  Looks like it will do fine on high with single player.  I shouldn't be caring about this since I know it will be smooth and resolution will be more clear.  Its mostly just for mining bitcoins anyways.

I guess I could test the game on my bros computer if I just log out on myn and log in on his?

a 9500/9800 is considered ancient technology by now
a modern mid-range card like a 560Ti is approximately 3-4x as powerful
A high end kepler card you are talking like 6-8x the performance

That CPU could be a potential bottleneck as well, but doubtful with a 9800, definitely with a 550 or higher.
Get a decent overclock on it and it should improve.. BF3 is pretty CPU hungry as well
I know a 9800 will play BF3, but not maxed out..I predict it's not gonna be very good FPS but it might be playable. Know nothing about ATI cards.

hey, I still <3 my 9800gt even though it makes my room hot :p.  2 of em in sli would still be a pretty awesome gaming rig. 

The cpu is actually the same as the minimum specs say only a lower clocked version.  I read that disabling cores/underclocking or even running an i3 over a beast i7 doesn't really effect fps.  It probably just doesn't matter after a certain point.  it will be interesting to see how an old cpu compares to a decent tri core though.

I used to clock it higher but I think it slowed down overtime since I used the stock cooling and it wont go so high now.  Wont hurt to buy a future proof cpu cooler and some case fans though, I wouldn't even run that card at full speed without some fans in there.  All we have is a big box fan right now :/
