Help With Biggish Mystery Species, a russula maybe?

Habitat:
Dark nearly closed canopy Monterey Pine Forest

Gills:
White

Stem:
long up to 4 or 5 inches, white, pliable but not seemingly hollow

Cap:
varying from tan to pinkish brown size variable from 1 to 6 inches, convex in youth, concave at maturity



Spore print color:
not visible or white

Bruising:
Shows no bruising or colors under trauma, did not change color at all in 24 hours.

Other information:
growing in large clusters

Russulas are nicknamed" brittlegills" because of the fragile nature of their gills. Lightly press against them with a fingernail, if it crumbles, its a russula. If it splits&exudes a milky substance its a lactarius, if it resists then you're barking up the wrong mushroom family tree.

Could be a Clitocybe or Leucopaxillus.

Those cross-sections put me in mind of Clitocybe as well.
