im not really diggin' Sublime with Rome

they remind me of 311 which i dont like. they have a few okay songs, but thats about it.

They aren't the same without brad and I'm surprised that alot of people arent giving them a chance because of the fact that brad isn't there. (in no way implying you) you gave them a chance, that's cool of you. Personally I really dig them, it's awesome to know that it's two parts of sublime in there plus one part Rome who is a great singer in his own right.

Idk if you've checked them out outside their new cd but Rome does great covering Brads vocals and I think brad would be proud that they found someone that good to keep the music going with. I Hella respect your opinion... Do you listen to anything else like sublime or in the same scene?

Dirty heads are where it's at man, I also dig tribal seed and slightly stoopid

I heard the same from a friend, missed all but three of the Sublime with Rome set, but said Badfish does a better job...which is a little sad. Said 311 killed it, playing mostly older tracks, like prior to 'From Chaos', heavy on 'Music' and 'Grassroots'. 311 is fucking amazing, though I must say I prefer the first seven records over anything past.

Sublime...just look at LBDA and LBSB, it was Brads' child. Eric and Bud are great, but they aren't Sublime, and never would be. I believe if Brad were still alive they would have started sounding like the more recent 311 also, but he's dead, so we'll never know. Badfish is incredible though, best cover band I've ever seen.

i was never into cover bands. they lack the magic which what makes most bands so great.

thats like comparing a dose of 2ce to a clean strong hit of lsd

I never saw Sublime live, so them playing and sounding like the tracks off of the CD is just fine with me. I'm sure if I saw Sublime live before Brad got overly-right, it would be a different story, but it isn't, so fuck it.

Badfish is VERY good at recreating the studio versions of Sublime recordings, which were always MUCH better than their live shows. A few of my friends who did see them live said that the live shows were always sloppier and felt off from what they expected from the studio records, and those first two studio records were basically home eight-track recordings anyway. I tend to agree with your point, but Badfish is an exception. Especially when they open with their own band, it just makes the Sublime cover sound better.

On sublime live: I've seen lots of videos and heard lots of live tracks, brad had a tendency to forget where he was and which part he was at alot lol he seemed to be able to pick himself up after freestyling though :smile:
