Fucking Ipods

So i bought this 2nd gen Ipod touch from a friend awhile back and now when I play it through the headphone jack it only plays out of the right channel WTF!  I havent dropped it or done anything that should have caused this.  I googled the problem and realized I wasn't alone in the problem.  My question is has anyone else experienced the problem and how did you go about fixing it?  If i wiggle the cord just right and hold it it will play out of both channels.

Your cord is damaged, try a new ear piece.

The only thing I see wrong is that u bought a second gen iPod. 

Those things get a beeting from
Most people and even use a movable harddrive.

its not the earphones i tested them on other things its def the headphone jack on the ipod.  Any idea how much that would run though? I'm assuming more than what I paid for it. Sometimes actually by putting a piece of paper in the jack it kind of holds the headphones in the just right position to make it play

Well then you're either gonna have to replace the headphone jack/hold bottom assembly or pay someone to do it. 2 second search revealed this: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Broken-Headphone-Jack-for-a-5th-Generation-iPod-Video,-30GB-or-60GB i doubt generations matter too much for this procedure.

from that page:
"There is no way to fix one that is broken or not working correctly unless you pay more than it would cost to just replace it. You can get headphone jack/hold buttons at www.ipodmods.com. They cost approximately $50. You can pay ipodmods to install it for you, but it is unnecessary when you can just as easily install it yourself considering they charge a ridiculous amount just for a simple task. You may also be able to find the proper headphone jack for less money on eBay (as little as $5)."

only iPod i have is the Gen 4 Slim one with the Video Camera it was engraved and given as a gift. i like it except

1. it has this stupid thing that if you shake it, it switches to a random track :mad2:

2. it still turns on when the LOCK is ON :thumbdown:

there is a setting that plays a random song when shook.  with the screen locked or not

Yes. In settings, then music or some shit. It should say shake to shuffle or something.

Hook up the screwdriver to the trigger to make it rotate really fast
