Neither me or my boyfriend have ever had a valentine:(, so I was supposed to have one for the first time ever this year, and..... I was honestly (secretly) kind of (really) excited...(don't judge me!). Even though I really fucking do hate everything valentines day and every other consumer holiday stands for and I always have, and I seriously HATED myself for investing any kind of positive value into it at all, I really was ashamed. Girls like you always piss and moan about how much they hate valentines day, and what a scam it is, but secretly the only reason you feel this way is because you can't stand to let yourself admit the disappointment you feel after years of not having ever been treated "properly" on valentines day.

Thing is, you girls are often quite good at this charade, sometimes to the point of your partner's detriment.

Have you told your boyfriend of your newfound passion for valentines?  Or does he think, that you think it still sucks?

Because if he thinks you're of the opinion that it sucks, and that poor bastard DID have monday off... it probably would have turned out to be a really bad day for your relationship anyway. I mean, what if you were expecting some big thing, and he didn't do anything, or he just gets you a card or something....

Alternately, maybe he's messing with you, and saying he has to work, so that he can SURPRISE you by coming home early!  (So don't fuck the mailman)

i was trying to agree with the damn thread.

i really have always hated valentine's day just as equally as every other consumer holiday, and i openly admitted that putting any value into it is a result of brainwashing, and i already said that I was ashamed of being the least bit excited.

i definitely wouldn't classify it as a "newfound passion" for valentines day, lol, but yes.... my boyfriend knew that i wanted to do something for it. the reason for that is mainly because we have been having problems lately, and I was for the most part just excited for us to have a night together that is finally just romantic and cliche and worry free, but whatever, I know it's dumb either way. And I also wasn't expecting anything big at all, I literally told him to get me the most cliche valentines day shit ever like a box of chocolates and a stuffed animal or whatever because that's all I fucking wanted haha.... I just wanted the vday experience ONE TIME to see what all the hype about was okay so fucking sue me
