But seriously, anyone else feel me on this?
I've been trying to lurk more and post less, and the change in perspective is alarming.
When I have no intention to post, and thus no stake in the game, it becomes appallingly obvious what a pissing match most threads are, here as well as on other forums.

I don't think anyone honestly cares about the opinions of the strangers on the other side of the screen.
For the most part, we're not here to learn from each other. We're here to hit "refresh" until something juicy comes up that we can jump on.
This guy disagrees with me! And he can't spell! Oh man, I hope nobody beats me to the reply, mine's gonna be so witty! (Shit, where'd I save that GIF image?)
It's all about the accolades, and it's all about self-image. We want to be quick, and witty, and prove our superiority over that pro-gun-control hippie (read "anti-gun-control redneck" if you're pro-gun).

It's free self-esteem, and all you have to do for it is be a douche to people you don't know.
