I walked around downtown for 6 hours tryin to find someone to sell me some, and found no one. thats gotta be like a sign from god...

wtf am i to do.. just ... quit? Fuck its just soo good, treats me right. the only thing in this world that does so.

People says you cant get addicted to it, but I guess this is love then?

its not physically addictive unless you smoke it in a spliff with tobacco. its the nicotine in tobacco thats physically addictive. it is mentally addictive tho. 'am i in love' good way of putting it. you love the feeling. i get very cranky when i dont get a smoke, but then i smoke it with tobacco. its a bit of an odd one this. i suppose if you smoke it enough to make it part of your lifestyle then any change is stressful. mahalos

Damn so true #5, so true. I smoke cigarettes, and have pretty much everytime i've enjoyed mrs. jane. No doubt that is why I sense the dependence - the desire to reach that greatness mj provides, in addition to the nicotine.

Sounds like quitting cigs is probly the best thing I could do in my life. and thereafter sort out what is love and what is truly addiction.

hmmm... how interesting. Thanks bro!

would you drink alcohol free beer? no? so why would you smoke magic ingredient free cigarettes? quit the cigs dude. they impair your enjoyment of every other drug.

so true. It's proven to be very difficult.

I quit cold turkey for 2 weeks, and had some shit go down, and started right back up full force(pack/week which im told isn't too terrible).

I think it's going to take some serious balls to completely quit.

Addiction in itself is really only a problem if it gets in the way of your normally functional life. Marijuana is probably a more benign substance than potato chips or soda-pop when used frequently. I mean, the sort of thing you describe is really no more outrageous than someone who drives all over a city looking for a Gamestop that happens to be carrying a certain game they really feel like playing. IMO, referring to such things as "addiction" is, moreover, just a way to guilt people out of engaging in otherwise harmless habits because said culture deems them "illegal" or taboo.

On the other hand, if you go a week without smoking and turn into a total jerk or psycho then, sure, maybe you're addicted... or maybe you just need marijuana to calm yourself down. In that case, however, what is the difference between "marijuana addiction" and any other necessary daily medication for anxiety or depression?

I love marijuana but it actually gives me anxiety, more so social anxiety so i function much better when i smoke less

I love it more for after ive gone out and met people and retreat back to my room getting lost in my own world.  Maybe its just my personality though, and if someone offers up the joints of course ill join in but it can make me overthink so for me less weed is actually better if i want to do certain things and really leave my comfort zone.

Don't smoke for 3 months then look at the behavior of all your pothead friends and try to rationalize that they aren't addicted. It's obvious to me that I was addicted and that many of my friends still are.

I think "habituated" may be a better term.

It's a habit, not like a true addiction. Like, you crave it like a true addiction, but there's no physical withdrawal, and your body functions fine with or without THC (unlike alcoholism, benzodiazepine addiction, etc.)

there is a mild physical withdrawal actually. lack of hunger, extremely vivid dreams, trouble sleeping, etc.

For like a day, then it's done.
Plus, it's not as bad as coffee... you ever try to quit coffee?

People be wrong.  It's very much addictive.

The distinction stoners like to make between physically and mentally addictive is irrelevant.

It's a fair question: Is marijuana addictive? The answer is complicated, unfortunately. Yes and no. From a strictly physical standpoint, marijuana is really only addictive in extreme cases of heavy, prolonged use. Even then, the physical withdrawal symptoms are likely caused more due to psychological factors than by a real, physical withdrawal.

So for the most part, there really is no physical withdrawal; no detox symptoms for quitting marijuana. With other drugs, such as alcohol or painkillers, there are very real and sometimes even dangerous withdrawal symptoms that can occur during the detox process. But with marijuana, there really are no such problems. So this would tend to point to the idea that marijuana is not addictive.
