Facing decades in prison..should I run, stay, or die?
    #13271380 -

First off, this is a legitimate post.  I wish I could say I was trolling, but unfortunately I fucked up big time and am now about to be arrested.  Due to the charges I'll be facing (non-violent drug related crime) plus my past record of non-violent drug related crimes, I'll be looking at some disturbing mandatory minimum.  Likely 20-30 years, possibly longer.

Should I flee to a different state, stay here and let the events unfold naturally as I get fucked by the corrupted system, or take my own life?  Keep in mind I also have a young daughter, which makes the decision that much more difficult.  I'd be out of state in a heartbeat if it weren't for her.  I need opinions.

Pros and cons to fleeing to a different state:

Pros:
1. For the first time in a decade I will truly be "free", I've been on probation for the past 8 years and have never stepped foot outside my own county line for those 8 years.

2. I'm sure if I look hard enough I can find a job that pays cash under the table so I don't have to worry about any paper trails.

3. I will be able to call my daughter whenever I want with a disposable phone or from various payphones far enough away from where I plan to live.

Cons:
1. Not being able to see my daughter, possibly ever again unless there's a time limit for how long authorities are willing to extradite me.

2. I'd always be paranoid, looking over my shoulder wondering if they are closing in on me.

Pros and cons to staying here and letting life take its course:

Pros:
1. I have a very large inheritance from my parents that I'd gain once I'm out of jail.  I'm not even sure money would mean anything to me when I got out though.

2. My family would at least have peace of mind knowing where I'm at at all times, and I'd still get visitations and phone calls.

Cons:
1.  Let's face it - MULTIPLE decades rotting in prison for a non-violent drug related crime is nobody's idea of a perfect life.  I'd be miserable as fuck in there more than likely.  I would probably get used to my new environment after accepting my fate.

2.  Not being able to talk with my daughter whenever I wanted, and only being able to see her through some thick glass window.

Pros and cons to taking my own life:

Pros:
1.  I've never honestly considered suicide before, but I have enough oxycodone pills at my disposal to ensure a painless death, 100% guaranteed so at least I wouldn't suffer and my family could view my body in the coffin.

2.  I will no longer be a burden on my own family.  I have put them through hell and back because of my actions.  I still partially blame the INSANE and INHUMANE drug laws of my country.  Were it not for these laws, I'd not have a single mark on my police record.

Cons:
1.  Simply put, I'd leave my family devastated for quite some time.  I worry my ex wife would not take care of my daughter as she should (she currently treats her like shit, and she would definitely gain custody of her once I committed the ultimate selfish act).

2.  My daughter would grow up always wondering about me and it would likely screw her childhood up substantially.

I don't know what to do.  I can't really see myself taking my own life, but all the same I do not want to face prison either.  Running seems the best option but I just don't know.  I feel so cornered with nowhere to go right now.  I need suggestions and opinions.

I'm in the process of running from prison myself, and I've never been so free.

Find a way to leave the country with your daughter. You'll both be better off.

seems like the burden is there  you dead or alive

so thats make nothing different

it depends of what thing matter the most to you

your kid knowing that his dad kill himself because he couldn't face his own fuck ups and kill himself with some shitty drug or can be part of anything in her life because you are running

if your smart you will last a couple of years running
but they will get to you sooner or later

unless you  plan to live in a cave eating bats and sucking water from the rocks

be a man
yes you ll do sometime
but i think it will be your last chance of turning around things
even if you do time

prison overcrowding will set you free soon  some day
like some of the killers that walk among us today .

Dont let your kid down by knowing you are gone.

Sorry OP, I feel for you but the game changed when you decided to have a little girl. You have to man up and do some jail time. It probably won't be as long as you're expecting, mandatory minimums aren't actually "mandatory"...there is always wiggle room

Run. Pack your essentials and get the fuck out of dodge. I see things turning out in one of two ways:

[1] You spend 20-30 years in prison. You know how this country views drugs. You'll do more time for drugs than you would if you kill somebody.
[2] You run.

Run. Preferably to a country that wouldn't expedite you back to the US like Cuba.

I would stay there and man up to what you did.  If you run your always going to be running and its not going to be a good life.  At least if you stay you will get to see your daughter in visits.  I used to be a Prison gaurd and prison isnt really the shit hole like you see on tv.  ( some are )

And if your on good behavior you can even have your sentence reduced .  Also you will probably get sent to a minimun security work release within a few years.  Those things are actually really nice.. compared to running forever .

Also you can get schooling and learn a good trade.  So when you do get out you can get a good job and make it up to your daughter.

The problem isn't just my current charge I'll be facing, it's also my past felony charges and the fact that I'm already on probation.  The judge himself told me if he sees me again he is throwing the book at me.  I will not be getting off easy no matter how good my attorney thinks he is.

And yeah kidnapping my own daughter doesn't do her any good at all.  I'm not going to put her through that.  If I do run, I'll be running solo so at least she can continue to get an education in school etc.

I really appreciate the replies, and #5 I see what you mean.  I actually did plan on living somewhere remote but still close enough to a small town to where I could ride a bike and pick up a few necessities.  I just don't know..I feel all hope has withdrawn no matter what route I take.

#7, running out of country isn't an option unfortunately.  I am on felony probation and currently I don't own a passport.  I wouldn't make it past the border at all even if I did have a passport.  I'm sure they have a system in place to look things like that up.  If I tried to sneak past the border through the forest or whatever, and I get caught by border patrol, that's game over right there.

Is the mom a bitch? Would she call the cops on you if you visited? If you were able to visit your daughter while you were running it might be worth it so she could have memories of her father while growing up. If you think the mom would not let you see her, then whats the point of running?

I've had a warrant out for 5 years now, on a 9 year sentence. So I could offer some tips and advice, if you were running for the right reason.

Yes, the mom is a complete bitch.  She wouldn't hesitate to turn me in if I were to visit my daughter while on the run.  Also, her soon-to-be husband just became a cop for my city so there's just no way I could make that happen without an arrest taking place.

Don't let them put you in a cage for a huge portion of your life. Drugs are a victimless crime. The aggressors are the "law". The actual crime attached to drugs is present ONLY because the drugs can't be bought in a store.

Don't let them put you in a cage for a victimless crime.

You didn't hurt anyone. You are an innocent man. Don't let this corrupt, self-righteous culture lock you in a box for decades for no fucking crime.
