sculptures
    #13201711 -

here's two sculptures i made the past 2 weeks :dancingbear:

any criticism/feedback is appreciated! i used an acetylene torch to cut the metal, grinders to grind and smooth the metal, stick welding to make the island, and some TIG welding to make the lightning sculpture. and of course, a dremol to grind in the small details.

Those are pretty cool man, all I have is this which I made about five years ago. I think I have another abstract wall piece but I don't know where that is.

I used a plasma cutter to cut out the base and then I cut out the petals from sheet metal and welded them onto the stem and torched them so I could bend them back with pliers. Cut the leaves out from sheet metal too and you can't see it but they have lines rolled into them to make them look more realistic. After that I just used the welding gun to make the roots and stuff.

Do you have any other work?

Well, I made this for my mom last semester for her birthday:

and threw this together one of the nights last week:

I haven't been able to make too much shit, since I spend most of my time in the shop welding. My teacher took me aside last week and told me he thinks I should go the art direction instead of a pipe welder and I agree. It's something I really love and just recently got into, but I don't know how I could make a living off of art.. not to mention it's hard seeing anyone buying this sort of stuff even though I've been told otherwise.

Anyway I'm currently doing stick welding, but TIG is my favorite and I could see myself making a career out of that once I get a lot better at it. I can't wait to take the blacksmithing class next semester as well :yesnod:
