Yes that is true. But everyone seems to buy into Hawkings because they believe he has some kind of massive raw intelligence. He doesn't.

it's popular non-fiction but the guy's research is pretty solid. intelligence in humans is relatively standard across the board. the people we think of as smart are just experts in a certain field.

he's just out to sell books, prolly to help pay for his medical bills which get more expensive the longer he lives.

spontaneous life has been a theory since i was in kindergarden if i remember right, so what "new" theory is he talking about?  All he is saying is that since a theory "explains" the big bang, then god doesn't exist, if that is what he is saying(hard to tell from a news article) then that doesn't make him look very smart

perhaps thats true, i don't live there so im not sure what it all covers, but im sure that tongue or eye to speech software cost him a pretty penny, regardless i imagine his lifestyle is costly in his condition even with healthcare covered

"What I am really interested in is knowing whether God could have created the world in a different way; in other words, whether the requirement of logical simplicity admits a margin of freedom."

Albert Einstein

Hawking just likes to argue with Einstein...The universe exists the way it does because its the only way it could have been created physically.

Get over it hawking...Einstein was smarter than you!  LOL
