Went to see my departed friend in her coffin
    #13083756 -

The mourning and that is a private affair so I won't mention that. Two things

1: It was her body, but it did not look like her. Her soul was missing.
2: It struck me how in this day and age, one of the few "jobs for life" is being a funeral director. My mate Dominick, his family are in that business, he is now, he'll be there for life. That's morbid, but touching.

That's it really. I wouldn't be a funeral director, the smell and the grief is soul destroying.

Did it actually physically not look like her? Organ donors sometimes donate their bone, and it's replaced by shitty looking metal crap, from what I understand. Often, the person doesn't even look the same.

My grandmother died of cancer recently.  I saw her in the hospital in her final days and she had withered away.  When I saw her at the wake, she looked 10 years younger and look just as I had remembered her when she was healthy.  Having your final memory of someone being them in their last days, withered from cancer is not good.  I'm glad I got to see her looking like her old self again for the last time.

I've lost quite a few loved ones, and I've found it best to remember as they were, not as they are at the funeral home.

Yeah, 4&6, you got to him and acted like shitty assholes when this forum was supposed to be cleaned up of fucks like you, but the absentee or dickless or troll or dumbshit excuse of moderation in SA loves to ruin the purpose of it and be lousy. Shame.
It's not the OP who should feel bad, it's the admin who says one thing and lets it be BULLSHIT and has no shame about it.

ehh, Number 7 is not the OP so what are you talking about? If it were #1 that was upset then fair enough. So. ehh , who are you referring to when you say we "got to him"

God, 7 and 8 really are on whine overload today.

No, all her body is intact (doubt she'd have organs harvested, what with the cancer). It just did not look like her. Her hands and face looked doll-like.

She was cold. And smelled like death. It was a thoroughly unplesant experience.

I am friends with a family of 3rd generation "end of life service providers" (owners of funeral establishment & directors).  They view what they do as a service to the deceased and the people whom they shared their lives.  They do it with a lot of respect for the process and people involved.

Yea, it's showing respect for the families deceased.  They do prey upon the grief and rape thousands of your dollars for coffins and bullshit, so there's a bad side too.
