In a nutshell, 1Pints will take longer, lower success ratio, higher contam exposure..stick w/1/2 pints or smaller(higher colonization rate)..gooodluck

Yea, I'm using pint jars, and the top half of the jar takes significantly less time to colonize than the bottom. I'm definately gonna use 1/2 pint for my next batch.

I've used 1 pint jars many times and I've had no problems. Keep them at a constant 85 degrees and you'll be fine. As for contams...My failure rate dur to comtams never changed when I went from 1/2 to 1 pint.

Get a few and try it out for yourself:-)
