Got a notice in the mail for copyright infringement

Heh. Hopefully Activision doesn't pursue this. I got mail today from my ISP telling me that:

"We are writing as a courtesy to let you know that we have received notification from one or more owners of copyrights claiming that their work has been transmitted over the Internet from your account without their permission..."

attached to it is the file that I downloaded, which is a game (that I also purchased PRIOR to downloading.. LOL) and a copy of the notice TO my ISP from activision. They have my IP and everything.

my ISP is literally telling me:
"Litigation could be pursued at the discretion of the copyright holder."
"Contact information for the copyriught holder is contained in the body of the complaint. If you wish to dispute the accuracy of the report, contact the copyright holder directly. Doing so may require revealing your identity. You may wish to seek legal advice before initiating contact."

Anyone else get one of these notices? I read up that most of the time stuff like this doesn't get pursued by the copyright holder. Also, I checked out the dude that is in charge of the copyright complaint (and he hand signed it) and he looks like a pretty OK dude.

haha I got one of those fuckin things from Warner Brothers, nothing to worry about, if you get too many of them your internet provider might shut your internet off. just start using a program that hides your IP

My ISP has been interrupting my connection repeatedly for the past month or so. It's really annoying. Either that or my modem is dieing after only 4 months of use.

Pure guardian? I was using peer guardian during this fiasco and it didn't hide my IP. Never heard of Pure Guardian.

I've personally received 4 or 5 in my lifetime. Most of the time the copyright holders don't pursue you and instead they get the ISP in their pockets to pester you for them. Same shit, different topic.

The ISP has some number of strikes against you in your file I guess. I never got a letter, but when I'd try to surf the web (http only) this page notifying me would pop up.
