When is the last time you've upgraded it? Or is it something Youtube did?

Go to:
Settings > General > About and tell me what firmware version is listed.

My last itouch fucked up.

It was jailbroken, and worked fine for a year, and then all of a sudden it started going apeshit and wouldn't work.

I got a new one and decided not to jailbreak it just in case it did the same thing.

Nope. It completely fucked up.

Like whenever I would play a song, it would play about 10 seconds and the song stopped playing and it would restart. I tried restoring it about 20 times, reloaded firmware, but in the end it was garbage.

You can upgrade it for free. If you want to jailbreak your iPod, i recommend getting firmware version 3.1.3. If you're not planning on jailbreaking your iPod, you can go straight to 4.0.

Please post back when you need more help.

I srsly doubt any of the permanent problems are due to jailbreaking. More likely due to dropping it or something else fucking up.

Go right to 4.0 - jailbreak was released tonight!

I'm running an AT&T 3Gs on Rogers in Canada fully working as of 3 or so hours ago :awebig:  I ordered it on eBay and it took a month before the jailbreak became public.

Download firmware 4.0, and on the device, navigate to http://jailbreakme.com.

Enjoy.

I just got the 3.0 upgrade and it plays youtube vids again. I am satisfied.


If you want to upgrade to 4.0 without jailbreaking, here are direct links to the files. Choose the one that corresponds with your iPod:
iPod Touch 2nd Gen
iPod Touch 3rd Gen

Once downloaded, plug your iPod into the computer, let iTunes recognize and back it up, then just open the downloaded file, and iTunes will ask you if you want to update your iPod.

If you have a 3rd Gen iPod, this would be useful for you as it will enable multi-tasking, and the ability to choose your own wallpaper, without having to jailbreak.
