Re: Some Perspective On Things [Re: Frost]
    #12697727 -

being privileged does not equate with being happy or being at peace with oneself.

in fact, i think buddha said the key to true peace and happiness is to have nothing...

external stuff does not equal happiness.

id rather be poor as shit with nothing and be loved than be someone like hitler who had all the money and power in the world but no true sense of love within.

Ya know whats so funny about that statement......

You have programed yourself to be the way you are

No one can change how you feel, but you :levitate:

I kind of disagree. I think its an influence of both yourself and others. kanye west said it this way "everywhere im at made me everything i am"

You don't see what hes saying apparently.

Everything around you will affect how you feel

But only if you allow it to

Somebody can call you "insert flame here" and you will get pissed, or you will brush it off, its your decision.

and it just gets more in depth from there.

Nobody can MAKE you say, do, or feel anything. EVAR

So what if I have more money or can read?

You know what the greatest part of my life is... living with locals in Thailand on less then $1 a day :shrug:

Beautiful people, awesome food and lifestyle that put my previous 22 years in Australia to shame.

It seems like a typical Western poster that believes,

Money = happiness
Doctors = health
Education = power

I couldn't disagree more.

You do, however, control every reaction you have to the things that are (voluntarily of course) impacting you.

So everything could impact you,

IF you wanted it to.

yeah dude im with you 100%.

I have a friend who studied abroad in Chili, lived in a community where she slept in a single hut with a family of like 7 (she woke up one night with a pig in her face), everyone was poor, they had bread and water everyday, every meal. (she was only there for two weeks)

she said the people were signifcantly happier than here in america (no suprise, community and belongingness are way more conducive to happiness than a big house and car).

they also only had a shaman, no doctor and she said there was a lady there aged at 115...western world tiss a sham...

im going to india and nepal for a year to study abroad. western society is about hedonism, sensory pleasure, and egotistical endeavors...the epitome of an ILLUSION of happiness.

well I guess were both talking about something that has a lot of grey area. I mean you can control how you "feel" but you cant control the physical changes that might happen when you make a decision. You can however keep trying. But when you are young, you dont have that insight that lets you control your destiny as much as when you get older, therefore having a lot of thoughts and pre conceptions that came from when you were young. theres just a lot to what were talking about. and i think we are kind of seeing the same thing on a level
