Growing Flavored Mushies

ok so a friend mine doesnt really use any teks or anything he just grows them on pas. H. manure under his stairs. i dont kno how it happens, but u can pick one of his mushrooms and start munchin on it and it tastes exactly like roasted pumpkin seeds, no mushy flavor, just the texture. ive done it myself. he says he doesnt do anything special.  so my question is there a way to grow flavored shrooms? i did a search and everyone say u cant affect the flavor while growing, only flavorin after you dry them. but i kno for a fact that somehow these taste like roasted pumpkin seeds so what gives? could it just be genetics or something the horses ate? any ideas or thots?

Are you sure he is growing cubes?  There is a TON of psychedelic mushrooms out there that like manure. And I am pretty sure they all taste different.

no im not 100% that they're cubes, i'll ask him next time i see him. but for what ive read all mushrooms taste like mushrooms, not exactly the same but more or less similar.

each species smells and tastes different. but the taste of each them is very consistent. you probably did not eat cubensis.
