Who only Grows using Fluorescents

its unbearably hot in my pad and was thinking CFLs would be better than HPS can anybody confirm this
i no that HPS produces more lumens per watt but does that mean CFLs convert more energy into heat than HPS
or does CFL have a wider wavelength for plants than HPS making its more efficient

im using about 200 watts of cfl's right now and its working great, very very little heat.

I have 11 plants budding under Florescent lights. You CAN use them and they WILL work IF you do it right. Don't just go to wally get a couple CFLS and plan to grow trees but if you get enough good lights they work great.

Flouros are fine for for part of the veg, mothers, clones, etc. When you switch cycles you need something way more intense to bud your plants, especially if you're expecting great results. If you do shit half-assed and don't mind smoking mediocre weed by all means, use your shitty CFLs and flouros.

God this thread is so full of bad info!
There are more then a few people out there my self included who not only grow using only florescent lighting but who grow nice healthy dank herb using ONLY Florescent lighting. You just have to make sure you have more then enough lumens for your space.

You need more cfls when you start fruiting. As long as you add more bulbs, and have good nutes to aid the plants you will do fine. Ive grown two or three grows with cfls and they are great if you cant afford/dont have the luxury of a full blown grow and lights. For me I got at least 5 more bulbs when they started to flower, and had the bulbs as close to the plants as possible without burning them.

fluorescents should never burn your plant. maybe a slight wilt on a leave but never full blown burns.

Your right, but I have had a few plants that have grown into the lights while I was away and had burnt enough to have to cut the leaves etc. I guess it all depends on the bulbs, a cfl 300w gets pretty hot no matter what.
