Well, I gotta cash my check later, and using the money I'll try to buy a birfday bag o pot.

I fell asleep on my arm last night, and when I woke up today it freaked me out because there was, like, no circulation of blood in there. I scratched it back awake. Now my arm is behind the rest of my body. It's a zombie arm.

It sucks because my girlfriend is in Germany!:crankey:

I'm smoking a cigarette right now, Pall Mall Menthol 100.

Yep! That's a good one, lot's of really innovative and neat tricks in there, but I'm a stickler for one-takes/single camera shots. Any rube video I watch that has camera angle edits in it will always draw me out of the experience for a second, breaking the fouth wall. These kind of things don't matter much if you are witnessing it live, but I feel that one continuous shot is much more profound/effective when using video to portray this art. Other than my problem (mght be a bias, though:p) the camera direction, it is a fine piece of art.

I'll spend a few hours a week watching other people's rube goldbergs/kinetic art, and I have to admit, I feel I can say with confidence:

I own more rube footage than anyone
I have video proof of having built more Rube goldbergs than anyone (the japanese have 60, I have over 100)
I eventually want to build the longest lasting rube, AND the rube with the most steps to it (I think the record for longest is "Der Lauf Der Dinge) and some university college team built one with 350 something steps.

The only reasons these kind of claims are important to me, is they are a sort of addition to my portfolio.

I have used tricks from other videos! If I use a trick I didn't think of, It is because:

A: I can portray the trick more clearly on film then they did
B: It's too cool NOT to use
C: I give the trick a different context (For instance, if someone has a spinning plate, I may do the same thing but make the plate look like a U.F.O--physically the same, but meaningfully different.
D: Part of the goal with continuing the series, is to incorporate as many different objects and motions as possible, as to portray variety and alternate routes
E: It's when the trick occurs that determines it's value, I think. for instance, a marble bouncing off a drum is more effective in the middle of the machine then the beginning. If I see a cool trick by someone else, but goes unnoticed because of placement, I'll rework the trick somewhere else. I work a lot with context.
My work is sometimes Lovecraftian in approach (Lovecraft used to rewrite entire stories by other people, giving them new contexts)

But all in all, I'd say most of the tricks, objects used or combination of the tricks are unique to my video series. For instance, I've never seen crankey balls, false teeth, and the declined of civilization used before!:-)
