Anyone from Texas? Looking for advice
    #12028251 -

My family and I are gonna be moving to Texas with in the next year. I'm finishing up my Associates in Computer Programing and would like to get my B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering. I've narrowed it down to UTD (University of Texas at Dallas), and U of H (Houston). I've heard great things about Austin but I don't know if it would be a good fit for me.

If I chose Houston I would actually be attending U of H in Clear Lake City. (A suburb SE of Houston) They focus mainly on CS as a B.S. and SE as a Masters.

If I chose UTD, I believe their campus is actually in Richardson, TX, (a Suburb just north of Dallas). They offer SE as a B.S.

I've heard UTD is more difficult to get into which makes it more "prestigious". Any way, i'm on the fence about it, and I have to take into consideration my families needs. It will be important to live somewhere safe and have a good school district for our children.

I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on these cities. thanks:mushroom2:

Lived all over Texas my whole life, right now I'm in Huntsville (hour north of Houston) attending Sam Houston State.  I don't know much about UTD or Dallas for that matter, but I think I would much rather live in Dallas than Houston.  Houston is getting too damn congested IMO.  I lived in Austin for two years, awesome time.

Personally I think all the big cities are shit. Just depends what part of the city you are in tho. I would advise against houston because it is so close to the coast. Which is probably nice until a hurricane passes by. I would suggest going to Austin, but that isn't on your list of options. Both Houston and Dallas are dirty cities with high crime and a lot of assholes. But if I had to pick between the two I would go to Dallas..
