so i have a very close friend (lets call him Harry) who i hang out with just about every day, predominantly due to the fact that we both are potheads.
i have always been smart about money, and making more of it. i dont like dealing though. can't stand the paranoia. basically, i have the capital and buy the bud. then people call Harry asking where the weeds at and he usually refers them to me.
he used to like dealing, and was still in the stage where it was an adrenaline rush for him. i still hated it. so i would say "sell this bag for me and i'll give you a grav (gravity bong pack)." Harry sells the shit, money comes back to me, i pack him a grav. Deal.
So this used to be regular business and we had probably made this exchange around 50 times before i decided to quit and lay low for a bit. I've always been extremely cautious; I have far too much to lose.
So yesterday, Harry tells me that if he ever got popped during a deal, he would give me up. He said it frankly, and he meant it. I started telling him that I thought it was fucked up that he'd give me up as a close friend. One of our old mutual friends had a nervous breakdown after getting busted with a quarter oz. and a scale last year, and he gave up this dealer I used to go through as a kid. When that happened, Harry agreed with me that it was fucked up, even though this kid was just a dealer to us, not a friend.
Harry's argument was that if he was only making a grav out of the deal, that he shouldn't have to subject himself to a potential distribution charge. Since I was making the money, he would point them in my direction. My argument was that that completely negated any intention I had in making the "sell a bag for a grav" deal with him. Also, that it was fucked up to give me up for a possession/distribution charge in addition to the bullshit that he'd still have to deal with/potentially could get out of.
Am i crazy for thinking that this is a fucked up thing to say/do to a friend? We both have completely clean records, but we both know enough about each other to fuck each other over with the law. We're both at a great university on track for good degrees. Or is he reasonably casting responsibility to me?
