hey everyone. im "CaliShroomer" and this is my first post. ive been hunting mushrooms for a long ime here in california. ive got acess to about 3000 acres of 4th gen cow pastures, and about 2400 prvt acres of property for regular edibles. on my trips to the patures, i regularly find Psilocybe coprophila, and a couple of others. during my last trip there, i cam e across the set in the picture growing out of a decomposed couple of year old patty . ive never encountered them before (USUALLY dont hunt in the rain). ive looked and looked to try to identify them, but cant. i dont know if its because of the absorption of moisture (its been raining here for about 2 weeks off and on) or ifs its just because im missing something. i thought it might be wise to post the pik here and see if anyone here might be able to help. ive picked these , dried them, and didnt get any blueing, BUT, ive also picked cetain ones here in the past that are suposed to blue that were good as they get, but they didnt blue eather. let me know if youve got any ideas. anyone local in california (butte county area, oroville, chico, gridley, ect)feel free to e mail me also anytime !!!!! maybe we can get together on a hunt.

I think this post belings in the hunting or edibles forum. You'll have a better chance in good responses there.
good luck

Hi,
Well, I dont see any pictures, or descriptions, but, a wild ass guess would be Panaeolus subbalteatus. Do a search and see if they look similar.
Others could be in the Panaeolus campanulatus group.

I'd have to agree on Stropharia semiglobata. Let us know about the print.

bro, ive got a TON O' BOOKS, but for some reason , this picture in the book doesnt come any were near what i found. i for the most part use national audubon society's field guide to north american mushrooms. its a pretty killeer guide. i think what the main problem was though with this one's id is that it's been raining here on the west coast now for the better part of a month. most of the mushrooms popping out here have absorbed so much moisture that they look like a distant cousin of what there really suposed to be.its kinda hard for me to dry them slowly also as ive got a couple of little kids in the house which promps me to keep my fire breathing dragon (wood burning stove) cranked up to about 5000 degrees all the time...hehehe.......ive got a couple of other pictures ill post here as soon as i get them shrunk down with P.S. 6.0.

ok....here we go for round 2......
heres another set im having trouble with..well, not really trouble, ive got a pretty good idea of what they are, but its better to get the opinion of all the greats rather than mis-identify them. i think you can tell from the pik what the substrate is pretty well, but in case you cant ....
1. im on the west coast, sacramento valley. 2. right now, the weather here is a pretty steady 50+ during the day, and dropping to near 35-40 at night. 3. no bluing...but REMEBER, its raining like poaring p**s out of a boot here right now
4. growing on mixed deciduous and conifer forest floor,MOSTLY under oaks (cali oak, scrub oak, pitch and suger pine, and doug fir, cedar)
check these pix and tell me what you think.....ive got some REALLY BITCHIN BITCHIN BITCHIN pictures of cali mushroom ive taken over the last year too if anyones interested in seeing them....not nessasarily potent, but just some pretty good pictures!!....
and by the by.....
i left these in the field until i can positivly identify them. they occur in almost the same spot every year here, so better to bne safe than sorry!
