My friend from shroomery took me to a furry convention once.  It was kind of funny.  Just show up at one with a tail and you will be good. 

He kept trying to explain to everyone that I was not a furry.  If he had just shut up about that everyone would have assumed I was a furry and it would have been all good...

there is three functions of furry.
1) is someone who just loves dressing up and acting as a animal and like things related.
2) a sick in the head person who maybe dresses and acts like a animal and also fucks animals
3) a type of hentai, usually a drawing of a human/animal hybrid. for example.

What animal do you feel a connection with the most?

I have several online friends who are furries.

Many furries are immature adults or kids, but theres also a good number of positive, playful, creative fun people out there who are furries.

And generous ones. I've been offered a gig of webspace for free on a major furry website, I've had artists come up and offer to do me a drawing of anything I'd like.. Give them some love and you're welcome to be part of the zoo.

REAL kinds of furries:

--Fursuiters, people who like to get in costumes
--Artists and their admirers
--Collectors of all things fur
--Virtual Furries, who play a furry character on MMO's like Second Life.
--Roleplayers.

Many furries are a combination of a few of those. My furry friends typically are either artists, and furry fans of my (non-furry) work.

Join some big furries art sites and forums (like Furnation or Fur Affinity), and if possible get or make yourself a nice fursuit and go to a furries convention like Anthrocon.

Furries conventions are like Star Trek conventions on crack. You've never met such a jolly gang of warped individuals in the most wild outfits. For a few days a locatiuon is turned into a roaring summercamp for big kids.

Its great fun.
