I took ativan for the first couple months after my incident (got attacked by a fucking bear while backpacking).  I only get panic attacks occasionally now and only when im super fucking baked, i don't take any medication anymore.  Using benzos long term can get you into trouble, I pretty much took them as perscribed.  Rarely did more than 2 mg a day and i still got a little hooked.

Was your medication paired with any therapy Bombaclaat? If so, what kind? That is if you don't mind my asking of course.

The story goes, or the way that I was told
There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low
And so he called all the wise men to the hall
And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls
But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring
It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king
Engraved in black, it had no front or back
But there were words around the band that said
Just know: This Too Shall Pass

its all good man, i didn't know i had PTSD at the time.  Found out a year later when i described what went down to a couple counsilers.  Both aggreed that i had untreated PTSD.

I spent 24 hours lost in the woods.  It was 95 degrees during the day.  I lost my pack so i didn't have any food or water.  It was seriously fucked up, ill write a "trip report" sometime.  Spent a night in the hospital for dehydration and exaustion, they gave me a bottle of benzos and sent me on my way the next day haha

stuff like that can make a pretty interesting "trip report"

i was sick two days ago and threw up for like 18 hours straight until i was delirious and couldn't fall asleep from the crazy ass hallucinations i kept having from the dehydration etc.
i thought about writing a "trip report" about that little experience too. lol

but, anywho, anyone i have ever known with ptsd actually got a lot further with therapy than with benzos and the like.

I have chronic PTSD. My symptoms are associated with acute trauma and ongoing traumas. I've tried around 8 anti depressants beginning at a very young age, and all of them made me manic and suicidal. One doctor put me on a lot of xanax, and that worked for a few months until I developed a tolerance. IMO there is no effective medication to deal with trauma. Focusing on one's behavior rather than one's thought process usually helps.

The problem with PTSD is that there is always a perfectly logical reason for a PTSD sufferer to feel depressed and enraged. It's not like feeling sad for no reason - there is an ever-present reason hovering at the edge of consciousness. I have coped with it (very successfully) by refocusing my identity on more positive behaviors. I try not to think of the people that have traumatized me. If I do, I don't think of them as the aggressor, but actively force myself to think of them as the unwitting participant in suffering and to feel compassion for them.
