It helps to be far in between jobs. 

I can't hit a pitch with a whistle, so I put a bunch of effects over it and changed the pitch.  The sad part is, I didn't realize it until I heard myself this morning.

And hey, if you end up with a blue collar gig, you'll have all sorts of opportunities to practice whistling. I whistle twice as much as I talk at work. :P

I hear ya. It's pretty common for me to have moments of artistic genius while I'm hauling buckets of busted concrete around, haha. Then again, sometimes I'm just thinking "motherfucker.... ouch, motherfucker." :wink:

Anyway keep writing / jammin tunes.

I'm sure you've answered this question by now, but are you just multritracking all the parts to these songs yourself?

yeah.  It's all coming through a bass amp... I don't want to fuck up my ears too much so I didn't use headphones on this one to cover up the previous tracks.  That's why the quality kind sucks.

Out of curiosity: Where you usually start when you're jamming alone? I tend to find myself starting tracks w/ a guitar and a metronome, but it always depends. (sometimes I'll start tracks w/ ambiance and build around it)

I have dif. ways of starting.  Recently, I'll come up with a rough melody without recording.  Throw the break in with that in mind, then the bass, melodic instruments, and then effects.  It's all done with some melody in mind, though.  I don't know.  I'm just trying new stuff. 

This one's pretty happy.

Check out this picture I took today.  I enhanced it in photoshop.

I haven't tried playing over an ambient theme.  That sounds like it might be good to try.

Nice, those bridge shots are pretty cool. What's the red/orange in the bottom one? It looks like a distorted drawing of the sun (or a flower? ..?)

It's either a plank of driftwood wood that looks like a boogie board with some graffiti on it, which is most likely the case... or it's actually a boogie board... Or, it could be a boogie board that drifted.  Ha!

Not sure...  I just liked the color.
