Just picked up a dart board and have to say it's pretty fun. Beats the hell out of beer pong.

i've started my own rules, and my room mate disagrees yet is still 5:1

1) if a dart falls out, it does not count
2) if you reach your target (ie, 301) you must throw all your remaining darts. The black outer ring counts as ZERO. off the board voids your score for that round (but only for the win, any other time it's a dart-by-dart basis)
3) rebuttal's can either be reaching your score or a bulls eye (either tier)

does anyone disagree with these rules? i think it adds a challenge to the game, and 2 forces a full round.

What's the dart culture like over there?

It's primarily a pub game here.

It's funny watching darts from a few years back. They were all drinking pints and smoking fags away while they played.:grin:

I'm not much of a dart fan, nor a barfly. My uncle used to have a board when i was younger that i played on. It was fun when i was a kid, and it's fun now. they still have dart boards in a lot of bars, but i'm not sure how big it is in general.

Not big on darts myself really but I am a weekend barfly.

Doesn't seem to be too popular apart from the few people who play it.

I don't think it has the same pull factor for new people that something like pool does.

Plus,it's hard to become good/accurate.

I got a buddy and we like to play team ckicket against whomever will play us. I must say taht we are pretty damn good as a team and have yet to be defeated, let alone brought into a close game. I love the sport, bu tI guess thats because I have a natural talent.

  great post though. and yea its definately a PUB kinda game.

I've had a sweet steal tip dart board in my house for 2 or so years now, i love playing..i do get burnt out every so often however.  Do you play cricket? Cricket with points is fun too. When you're playing 301(501) trying ending the game on doubles only, that'll learn ya.
  I dont have one but you could also look at getting an "out chart" those things are damn handy, pretty sweet too.  I dont play to much at bars because most of those are shit plastic ones that never stick, plus i like a nice heavy dart with good grip.

never seen anyone using them tho

I hardly ever play but I enjoy it and I feel I'm pretty good once I get a rhythm going.

as far as your house rules... they look fine to me. Nothing looks like it's tipping the favor towards any one player
