do you see elves?

This seems like it might belong in TPE, but I felt more like asking here for some reason. :stoned:

I was just wondering how many of you psychedelic vets actually see those infamous self-transforming machine elves when you're on DMT. I've smoked DMT a good few times and it seems to me like what actually happens when you're on it is so outlandishly bizarre, inexplicable, and generally indescribable on every narrative front that any description of it is less representative of what the experience was really like and more demonstrates the verbal tendencies and perspectives of the storyteller. I'm sure many people who have broken through on DMT after researching it heavily, like I did, can sympathize with that feeling of, "How come nobody told me it would be like this?!" upon reaching that point and then later realizing that nobody could possibly have been able to tell you it would be like that, no matter how hard they tried.

With that said, however, I've noticed on my last couple sessions with DMT that with more experience, the "altered physics" inherent to the trip are less shocking and overwhelming, as they used to be, and a bit more concrete and easier to remember, without being ever the less bizarre or indescribable. I must admit to a feeling of only having scratched the surface.

So, to those of you who have seen the "elves": did they come at you right away, or had you already wet your feet in DMT hyperspace before they began to appear? And, probably far more difficult to answer, are they simply a manifestation of a magnificently garbled matrix of understanding, or are they something genuinely tangible, "knowable," capable of being committed to memory and categorization?

(I've "seen elves," but not during my DMT trips themselves; rather, they always seem to show up during that DMT afterglow, lasting days to weeks, where a hit of hash will cause an explosion of vivid CEVs. I don't know if anybody else gets this or if these visual phenomena even qualify as "elves" as believing DMT-heads know them.)

the only entities I have seen on DMT are the other people who were with me at the time physically. And they turned into alien orbs of pulsating green plasma light. At first I mistook these for other worldy beings. But then I realized I was simply perceiving my friends as they really were. pretty awesome nonetheless

i was just talking about something like this with OMR.

sometimes when people describe their DMT trips, it seems like they mean they see actual images.



i mean, i can look at that and see a cat and choose to describe it as cat, but it no way looks visually like a cat.

thats what i mean by do people really get actual images?  like would you see an actual picture of a cat instead of something unrelatable to anything real?

This is kind of how I feel about it too - it seems to me like the DMT experience is essentially an extremely jarring barrage of disparate sensory and mental noise from which one can tease out virtually anything they like, or anything that strikes their fancy. I just find it interesting how vehement the entity folks are that they have encountered a real, external, dynamic intelligence, and it makes me wonder if there is something I have missed in my own voyages.

well thats what i'm saying.  i have an experienced an entity that appeared to be made of that noise.

i would describe it as an electric tree, but that is a completely ridiculous visual description and would be completely inaccurate.  visually it was a writhing mass of geometric noise constantly changing shape.

it appeared to communicate with me in english.

In my stronger DMT trip last night, it was like the room I was in was suddenly a Rubik's cube... being played by God. I only just came upon that as a half-decent (if that) way to describe what it was like.

I love DMT. :shocked:

I've seen a couple different types of entities while in the DMT-verse, none that seemed to match McKenna's description, but they were definitely Divine.

On one of my heavier trips, I saw an "intelligent membrane" type entity that would move directly to the upper left of my peripheral vision every time I tried to look at it. On that same trip, while "coming back," I flew past what appeared to be a, yes, well-formed entity (in the sense of being human-like in structure, yet definitely not human) sitting at a table, with some sort of bright light emanating from its' center. Again, this was in my peripheral vision and as much as I tried to get a DIRECT look at them, I couldn't.

Extremely strange to say the least. I had the direct feeling afterward that they were trying to observe me without being observed themselves.

btw, I've seen elves not just with DMT but other things as well. A wide variety of different types, but many of them definitely bearing resemblance to what we think of as elves

SPOON GUARD! Old as dirt, first saw it as a sophomore (in high school!), but your sig pic reminded me of it somehow.

I've seen entities on ten hits of LSD, when my meditation dropped me off in some type of uniformly-arranged neon-colored realm of eyeballs-on-stalks which tossed me around like a ball. And several times on mushrooms I've had an almost Gulliver's Travels-esque sensation of tiny little incorporeal chatterers exploring my being, poking buttons.
