I hope that none of these people are making money off of this garbage. Honestly, they could sounds decent, but claim they are "Hulk-Hop" and I would completely disregard them.

Most of these bands are probably not original at all except for the genre of music they made up that probably resembles one of their shitty songs.

2) A band in a genre coined the genre term themselves in order to sound cool, not to market their music or try and set themselves apart.

Who fucking cares what genre it's called? Genres exist for a reason, and that's as a guide. Don't be a fucking idiot about it.

I somewhat agree with you, but theres so many different genres of electronic music in general, and more dj's who like other peoples styles will adapt into their own.
They're taking advantage of dubstep being so new and trying to create their own styles. That's how i think of it as anyways

I do apparently. Sorry, I don't like bands who try to come up with an "entirely new genre" *LAUGH*, especially when it's a play off an older genre but they just add some stupid fucking name to it to make them seem "unique".

Let's look at Rock. There are ALL KINDS of different varieties of Rock. I don't see some of the best bands in the world making their own genre so they can be "unique". No, the way they do that is through their music, not making up some stupid genre name to seem "original".

Again, you're assuming that bands create the genre name.
I'm not saying this isn't or can't be the case, but often times fans or critics coin genre names.

I'd suggest listen to music and judging it, not being a holier-than-thou prick.

PS Many of the best bands in the world are so great because they DO make their own genre. Progressive music (and I don't mean the genre :lol:), when done well, is unique yet broad in scope, influential, and timeless.

Never said I was holier-than-thou and I have listened to some of this music. I've no problem with any music to be honest. It's the labeling that pisses me off. Maybe it is the fans, maybe not.

Either way, I'm genuinely sorry if I offended you, but just as I see your point, I'd hope you'd see mine.

Most newer genres out there, you can decipher what genre they originate from, such as Soft Rock or Hard Rock, but those are rather explanatory of the music they play.

Hulk-Hop... Do they make Hip-Hop music about the Hulk?
