The Narcotics Nod: Obama Gave Go-Ahead for Mexican Drug Law

Saw this article and thought I would share my frustration with you.

According to an Associated Press report, U.S. law-enforcement is concerned that young Americans will take advantage of Mexico's new law legalizing use.

"It provides an officially sanctioned market for the consumption of the world's most dangerous drugs," San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said. "For the people of San Diego the risk is direct and lethal.

There are those who will drive to Mexico to use drugs and return to the U.S. under their influence."

According to the report, Mexico's move to legalize drug use was made possible when the Obama administration gave its tacit go-ahead.

"The Bush administration criticized a similar bill proposed in Mexico in 2006, prompting then-President Vicente Fox to send it back to Congress. But Washington has stayed quiet this time, praising Calderon for his fight against drug cartels -- a struggle that has seen some 11,000 people killed since Calderon took office in 2006."

One U.S. watchdog group claims that the Mexican drug war was set-off when the U.S. began construction fences and barriers along the Mexican border, not by actions of the Mexican government. "The Obama administration could stop drug smuggling by finishing the fence," said Glenn Spencer of American Border Patrol. "Instead it has decided to surrender to the drug cartels and sacrifice American youth on the alter of globalism."

I swear it's like these people are fucking morons, or they really don't want us to have or use things that make us feel good. They want us to use their pills that cause strokes and heart attacks and diarrhea, and black hairy tongue
(look it up I'm not joking!)

Just legalize it in the US and we wont have the above problem. Fuck this government, fuck this economy, fuck obama. :thumbdown:

I don't know about sacrificing American youth but I agree that Obama kneels at the altar of globalism, as did Bush I & II and Clinton (and every president in the last fifty years to some extent)

Right, it was SOO much better before, when 18-21 year old San Diegans drove to TJ to get absolutely fucking shitfaced, then drive back at 6 am falling asleep/passing out at the wheel.

I'm confused, you guys are saying fuck obama but he is the one that gave the go ahead for Mexico to make this new law in the right direction, instead of trying to stop it like the bush administration.

I believe it's a step in the right direction, at least for the common man. I don't see how this will help curb drug cartels, I can only see this law damaging. It's still illegal to distribute, but legal to poses in small quantities. Legal for me would I'm buying more often and more money for illegal cartels. It's just a tiny step, we need a leap.

Meh, I don't know, I'm just a fool. Either way, I hope this all pans out for the better and sets an example of how drugs won't cause the fall of civilization.

I think ppl are confused, it's not legal for people to buy drugs in small quantities at all... It's just that they are not gonna waste there time throwing casual drug users in jail and instead focus there resources on taking out the actual suppliers, may actually lessen the presence of drugs in mexico...

Young Americans are concerned that law enforcement will take advantage of their freedom through America's century old oppressive and senseless drug laws.

You think I'm going to go all the way to Mexico to score a half gram of coke when I can go down the street and get an eight ball for less than a price of a one way plane ticket? Who wants to get harassed by those customs agents who don't even need a GED to get that job? I'm dead serious when I say that too- they don't even need a GED.

Who gives a fuck? it's not like they legalized pounds of weed to come over the border, they decriminalized possession of small amounts of certain drugs. how the fuck does this affect the average stoner/cokehead/etc in America?

Meanwhile Obama is fucking the economy in the ass with money the government stole from taxpayers on a stimulus that clearly did not work (unemployment rate in California is higher than ever and not dropping, as is federal if i'm not mistaken)...

and despite what people say, the economy is NOT getting better. the economy is still getting worse, but now its getting worse at a slower rate. recovery? no. that's like saying "well today i only murdered six people, as opposed to twelve yesterday, clearly that shows i'm slowly turning into a humanitarian"

It's a step in the right direction is what I'm saying, at least they aren't throwing casual users in jail and giving them fines they can't afford, change happens gradually.

Well they actually are throwing casual users in jail because those amounts are quite small. I see your point on the razor thin progress though and the fact that republicans as a party are currently worse than the democrats.

The thing that gets me is they will still keep all of these drug tests in place and exclude people from jobs for using the drug of their choice. Legalization is the only way to go for justice and equality.

The absolute ignorance of people is unfucking believable. It's like the average american lives under a fucking rock.

I firmly and surely believe that a lot opinions and personal "stand points" that the obama administration puts out is purely political. Before he was president for years he was much more firm about personal drug use laws and medical marijuana. They are just trying to appeal to the moles and turtles that live under rocks because they want and need the re-election. I am sure that this is not the same Obama we will see when he gets re-elected. It'll be the Obama of the two decades before that, the senator and small time politician that he used to be. The alternative is going to be some HORRIBLE piece of shit conserative fucktard. So please, please vote for Obama. The alternative is going to be so much worse and we all know that first term presidents, especially democrats, are much less conservative than they truly appear to be. For the sake of our country and no matter how frustrated you are with Obama's political standpoints that they have published, think down deeply as what makes sense, how this trend has happened for hundreds of years, and what you would be doing by voting for the opposite neofucktardnutjob. Do what's right please.

Yeah that's great he approves of Mexico's new legalization move, but what about us?  I'm glad Mexicans don't have to worry about jail time over small possession amounts, but we need a break here too.

I see this as a step in the right direction in two ways:

First, for Americans who DO elect to venture across the border to purchase or use, they won't end up incarcerated in some seedy, dangerous Mexican jail cell for an indeterminate amount of time.

Secondly, a next logical step would be for border states (CA, Texas, etc) to decriminalize (not legalize) a select group of drugs on THIS side of the border, making it unlikely (or at least less appealing) for Americans to cross the border at all.

My $.02.

if obama passes this med reform; legalizing any drug will not happen. Something they could not control plus it would down size government mainly the DEA.Until we get a strong 3rd party legal drugs will never happen.

Why the fuck does mexico even need obamas approval? America just can't leave other countries alone and focus on their own shit for once.

Ah but this time they did leave them alone.

There was no "approval", just an absence of disapproval.
