Has anyone else used Ralph's SA (August SOTM)?

Hey all, I'm just wondering if anyone else has used the August Strain of the Month SA or South American from Ralphsters? I have always ordered from Ralph and trust him 100% (and will continue to order from him) but I ordered one syringe of Z-strain and one of the free South American spore syringes and last week I inoculated some brown rice syrup LCs and also two WBS jars each straight from the syringe to test. Both the LCs and the WBS for each strain were prepared and PC'd together, so I don't have a reason to think that half would be contaminated by my doing. My issue is that the Z-strain WBS and LC are growing normally and the SA WBS and LC have not shown any sign of growth after 3 days. Has anyone had any success or lack of success with this month's SA? (Yes I shook the syringes)

wait longer thats not long to see germination, could be a dud syringe tho. give it a week.

Will do. I understand the Z-strain has a rep as a pretty fast strain and that may be the reason I see all signs of growth in those jars I inoc'd the same day. Thanks. :smile:

3 days is usually the earliest you will see growth. its not going to happen everytime. Ive had it take as long as 8 days.

also, saying it can take atleast 3 days for the spores to germinate isnt quite active. Spores can germinate in a mater of hours.

it takes time for cells to divide enough sothat theres enough of them to see.

my sotm(SAs) are ready to go in the next day or so.:thumbup:

I made a 200ml honey LC and colonized 3 quarts of rye.  All good over here.

SAs are the front corner jars(3) and the 1/2 pint honey LC next to my hygrometer.  :thumbup:
