Jurema, anyone tried it?

Got some Jurema brewing in the fridge. For those who do not know, Jurema is a preparation of MHRB that is orally active in spite of having no MAOIs added.

Anybody tried this and have any idea what to expect? I can't find any experience reports on Erowid. I read in Dale Pendell's Pharmako/Gnosis that it is somewhat different from typical ayahuasca and its analogues, describing the visual effects as being more "desert-like" than "jungle-like," but honestly that sounds pretty subjective to me.

Once I wate 3 grams of really potent jurema, an hour after eating three grams of rue...

then i just layed in the dark..

It was quite the experience.

I've used mimosa with rue. that definitely worked
eat some ginger before

mimosa tea is definitely the most unpleasant tasting thing I've ever consumed.
like sour grapes, how they change the texture of your mouth, except x1000

I've never completely succeeded with it,

first time I threw up too early and had a 15minute trip which was actually really intense
felt like I was about to breakthrough with symmetric patterns everywhere

second time I didn't heat it long enough, so no dmt was in it

third time, I was in the woods and I had forgot bugspray and there were mosquitoes everywhere,
I drank like 1/5 of it and then the nausea combined with the mosquitoes made me SO frustrated
that I just threw the rest of it out and went home. I still got some effects though, my body
started buzzing/vibrating and I saw transparent duplicates of objects morphing over the originals.

dmt from what I experienced seems like it is the source/inspiration of all mystical/paranormal things
fairies, ghosts, aliens, leprechauns, etc  it has such a similar feeling to the unknown

you caan just use MHRB and no maoi and it works? how much dod you have to use?

I am not sure, Pharmako/Gnosis says a "starting dose" is 1/3 to 1/2 an ounce, but I think Pendell might be writing facetiously there because that's about equivalent to a "sip." :rolleyes:

I used half a pound of rootbark for a brew for me and a couple friends. Could be more than enough, might not be enough, don't really know. Plan on finding out.

Jurema is well-established to work without an MAOI, but nobody knows why. There are a few theories, like that MHRB rootbark contains an unidentified MAOI, or some other compound that the DMT binds to in order to survive metabolism.

how m any days do you have to be on the maoi diet for ayahuasca or mimohuasca? ive heard weeks and ive heard days

nah, syrian rue/b. cappi block MAO-A and not MAO-B. the diet restrictions only apply to MAOIs which block MAO-B

I'm curious to find out how this turns out because I have some mimosa that one day I'd like to turn into a brew rather than messing around with more dmt.

I've also heard of a straight mimosa brew that contains phosphoric acid as well that is supposed to be extremely potent with as little as 3 grams of mimosa powder per serving.

that is verrrrrry bad advice. You've apparently never had a hyper or hypo-tensive crisis. Many people have, even from rue.

Lol, jurema has a long history of use by Brazilian tribes and has been proven many times by many people to be orally active by itself with no maoi added.

In my experience, eating while on syrian rue doesn't have any negative effects. the logic behind it also makes me believe it's safe,
but people are different so you're probably right it could affect some people.

do you have a link to an experience where someone had a bad reaction with food? I haven't seen any and I'm curious

Drink the tea with no MAOI to settle the debate. It would be really nice to have a solid dosage and an experiance. Shit submit it to erowid and solve this 'riddle'. The only other thread on it here the person never reported back...

Yeah it seems like the diet isn't as important when using these short acting maoi's like harmine and harmaline.

I've drunk strong ales while high on a brew using Syrian rue then ate a bean and tofu burrito after coming down just to see what would happen and I was all good. Not even a headache.
