Re: Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K. Dick, or similiar author suggestions? [Re: sui]

I am an Asimov fan. When it comes down to the heart of science fiction, nearly anyone can agree that Gene Rodenberry and Isaac Asimov were the founding fathers of the genre.

I think you need to go back a little further to Verne and Wells.

Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch is a great Philip K. Dick novel, very surreal, trippy, and thought-provoking.  I need to read more of his stuff, I was reading Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said, but it seems to have disappeared...

I read Valis, The Man in the High Castle and some early short stories but I have to say, for some reason, I never got real into any of it.

Maybe I was distracted when I read it or something. Did you find it difficult to understand, at all?

It's actually the only PKD book that I really got into.  I heard about it when Robert Anton Wilson talked about the similarities between his work and PKD's.  I didn't find it hard at all to understand.  Now you've made me want to re-read it.
