How do people piss away fortunes?

I dont know how many stories Ive heard about people making hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars and pissing it away in an instant.
What I want to know is, how does this happen?
I live on roughly 200 a week. I could not fathom spending 100,000 in a weekend. My thriftiness I dont think would allow it.

If I was an expert I wouldnt have asked.

Ive "heard stories" about people whove found enlightened but that does not make me an expert on the path.

Get the biggest mansion you can find, a whole fleet of cars, a yacht, a trophy wife who later divorces you for half your money, and a coke habit.  Add a bunch of lawsuits, and that'll about do it.

Of course, that's if you're just celebrity rich, not insanely wealthy like some of the billionaire tycoons out there.  The Vanderbilts spent several generations squandering their family fortune, and they're still the seventh wealthiest family in history.

People that lose their fortunes are usually lotto winners and those who inherit money.
They buy liabilities not assets. Instead of buying real state and profit making businesses, they buy yachts, expensive cars, take all their friends on holidays and gamble a lot of their money away.

Yah, I hear alot of it is coke, yachts, cars, bars, etc.
Id imagine if you went to one of the world's most expensive restaurants every night in a private plane thatd get kinda pricey.

I wouldnt say my pops pissed away his fortune, but he did lose it all in the stock market practically overnight.
When I was real little I remember staying in luxury hotels. I ordered an expensive pizza in one, it had goat cheese, eggplant, leaves, asparagus and a bunch of crazy stuff.
As a 6 year old I didnt really like it, I just wanted mozzarella and pepperoni.

Now that Im an adult and cant afford such a thing, it sounds pretty tasty.

It's just a matter of perspective I think. There are plenty of people in the world who could consider $200/week "pissing away a fortune". We just don't run into them that often on the internet.

exactly.  Those types dont hang out on the internet.  If you can blow away a bunch of money, you probley wont be hanging out on the internet afterwards.

I own precious metals and im at a bar at like 2pm on a monday, lol...unemployed too.

I think how easy it is to lose it, depends on how hard it was to get it.

If you work for years, and put in the work to get your wealth, you are probably less likely to let it go so easily.

Whereas the folks that "get rich quick", whether it's from the lottery, or a quick stock sell that increases the comma's in your bank account by a few, aren't as attached because no sweat was shed to get their money.
