Dear SHIT! I think I get it! Does this sound logical?

I think I found my calling.

First, I'm going to work on a farm for a month, and from there I'll see if I like that. If I do, great. Then I'll farm.

Then I like and have a knack for cooking really good but not exactly gourmet food. My key is that I cook fresh, balanced meals specializing in being hypoallergenic. But I don't like to do much or be bogged down. Therefore I can either be a sous chef, personal chef, or caterer.

From there I'm interested in creating assets but not doing anything in particular for a certain somebody just so I can make money.

So what am I asking? Now that I see this, I don't think I'm going to finish college. Sure, I'll take more courses, but I don't think it's necessary for me to get a bachelor's since I'm not looking to impress anybody. What I know is what I want and a vague idea of how I will create it. The only reason I need money at this point is to survive and pay off my student loans.

If I want to complete my degree I can always do that later. And even with that, I can skip easy classes by buying the book and reading it myself. Really, what did I learn in accounting? To reference the book. That's about it. No need for a teacher.

Does this make sense?

you may not want to 'impress' anyone, but in reality, its pretty much standard required to have that stupid degree to make more than $12.00 an hour.

it looks much better if you completed it.

But what if I get really good at this cooking, farming, or banjo?

I'm not going to make the mistake of going to cooking school. I have my own art and only strive to develop it.

Anyway, I'm still going to go to school for this semester, and probably year but what if I run out of classes I want to take? Why am I obligated to get a degree?

Yeah I can vouch for the "never go back" arguement...I took a little college, dropped out, (ironically for a job making "good money") and figured I'd go back soon. Now I'm 24 years old, no job, and no degree to help me get a job.


Still planning on going to school "next semester". :sad:

Finish the degree dude. It sucks, but at least for the rest of your life. No matter what happens, you have a qualification for a particular line of work.

When you've done that, give me a call. I often dream of ways to adhere to my beliefs and pursue my dreams...while somehow making enough to live. Together we could be entrepreneur art farmers :naughty:

Buy some land.

Life is bloody good with land, even if you're not living on, just knowing you have 30 acres sitting out in the middle of nowhere in a nice rural town makes you feel in control of your life.

Now I study because I want to study and I work because I want to work, anytime I can say "fuck ya" and piss off to the bush.

Well sort of, I got no power, got water/toilet and shelter :vaped: $10,000 in PV+a little turbine and I'll be sweet next year. Sucks getting high as fuck then having to run a generator so you can watch some Family Guy DVD's and play Mario Allstars :crankey: Bonus is you can smoke bongs on your roof completely naked at 6am in the morning.
