Teams sure are stacking this year, it's become like an arms race.



Let's see, Shaq to Cleveland, Artest to LA, now this.

But yeah, Boston has got to be the favorite right now. Or LA. Both are putting out 2 very very good teams

Boston just has to worry about staying healthy and keeping Ray Allen

I was pissed when I heard about sheed going to boston. Hate the celtics...I was kind of hoping orlando would pick him up. Or denver, but Kmart+Sheed=metric fuck ton of technicals.

And don't forget about the Spurs picking up Richard Jefferson, or Detroit w/Ben Gordon.

I hate Boston too but I cant see how this doesnt make them the best team in basketball. Rondo would be their weakest link in the starting 5 and hes pretty solid himself.

I love the Lakers getting Artest, that will really help Kobe on defense. I :heart: Ron Artest

Im really hoping the Cavs land Tevor Ariza, that would be a great pickup

Artest to LA, I missed that.
Ariza is going to the Rockets.
I missed Rasheed going to the Celtics too, but I'm guessing it happened over the weekend when I was gone.
Hedo to Toronto.
I also missed Detroit's pick ups.

Yeah, I guess Detroit got BG AND Villanueva. They could be deadly.

I've also been looking a bit into this Ryan Anderson guy that Orlando got in the VC trade...he could have some potential, guy had 33 pts, 14 rebounds today in summer league. Might be a great rookie to replace Lee.

I think it's neat that the NBA is the only league where you have players taking significant pay cuts to play for teams with a real shot to win a title.  You just don't see it in football or baseball.  I mean, a guy may give a slight home-town discount, but Rasheed is getting a mid-level exception-type deal.  That's a ton less that he would get on the open market.

And the NBA players are supposed to be, according to the media, the most selfish players in sports.

this is definatly the most interesting off season in years. i cant remember the last time i was still discussing basketball this long after the season.(except when the pistons won)

That's an interesting observation.  I think it's also because ppl dont get paid as consistently across the board in other sports.



Football players, get paid crap compared to their basketball counterparts.  For footbal players, making above a mill a year is a huge deal.  But in basketball it's not unusual to see most stars making db digit millions per year.  Not many footbal players get those kind of paydays.

Football contracts aren't guaranteed either (for the great majority) and you know these guys are always looking at the facts of their careers being one move away from being done, the short life expectancy  and the pain and medical bills they will inevitably face.

If you think Ariza has a better chance to win in Houston than in Cleveland you are a complete a total fucking idiot. No way are the Rockets good.

His reason for going to Houston is he wanted to go somewhere he was really needed and wanted.
You call his move dumb but a move to win a championship applaudable. Both are moves to satisfy someone beyond money, and both are respectable decisions.

It's basically a royal rumble of team stacking.

Lakers with Artest,

Magic now with Vince Carter,

Wallace on the Celtics, WITH Kevin Garnett.  Imagine the intensity.

Ben Gordon and CV to the Pistons.


And of course, Shaq and Lebron.  Wow...




You know, why not take other big players off no name teams and stack them.

I think the Lakers should sign Carmelo Anthony, the Cavs get Barren Davis, Igoudaia to the Pistons...

I don't think teams are "stacking." Maybe 3-4 years ago, but now it's just solid filling. None of the moves are giving a team their new best player. Shit, most of the moves aren't even giving teams new second best players.

It will be a fucking fun season though. It's been really enjoyable seeing the sudden shift from West to East power. It doesn't get talked about enough in my mind either.
